A lot more complex than what I am thinking of Angel.... you don't do things by halves that is for sure.

would a what-if production variant of the Hungarian 44M TAS heavy tank be allowed? I am thinking of

Scheurzen
engine decking armour (a la panther anti-air-attack plating)
rear glacis stowage
turret upgrade (handles, stowage bin)

so not a huge amount of scratch building

Robert,

I'm OK with your What-If idea.

I'm sure once you start building, you will come up with more features to scratch build(infra-red equipment?!?)!

Some people have all the luck! I had to travel 1/2 way around the world to spend my 3 days there..... and a hard drive crash just after I uploaded my pics lost me every photo I took. Upside, an excuse to go back

well been working and serving on tanks 43 years and still going strong .

Do we have to declare what we are building at the start of the build.

That would be nice,Ossie.

"Shelf queens" are also accepted in this Campaign- picture of their status when brought again to the working table is enough.

Last week I came across 2 interresting subjects:

-75 mm Schneider-Canet M1904 QF Field Gun(aka Schneider PR):

Wheels are not original though- I think they came from either Russian 152 mm. ML-20 howitzer, or from Russian 122 mm A-19 gun.
Have some doubts also about the gun sight...

-a ponton from Kriegsbrückengerät A

Edit 2019: the ponton is not from Brückengerät A, but a Halbponton from WWI German Divisionsbrückentrain.
Brückengerät A pontoons are much longer...

I intend to build at least the gun within the Campaign,

wondering whether i could try resin casting as well in this... thinking i am going to need identical supports for the schurzen (so probably 8 per side long ones and 4 per side short ones) and rather than build out of plastic wondering if i can cast from a master (so only making one of each support)....

think i may do some research in to the techniques

ummmmm..... resin is more brittle than styrene so I would be worried that the cast parts might be too fragile.
Just my guess though .....

Sure you can try resin casting,Robert.

This is also what I intend to do on one of my intended Campaign builds(4 identical double curvature fenders).

Robert, as Robin says, resin can be brittle so it would depend on how thin the parts are to be and what stress they will be under given the weight they will hold. However, having done quite a bit of resin casting, I believe it could be done.

How you make the mould so the casting will not break during removal and the type of resin you use will be the key.

I have done quite a bit of casting, so if you are going down that track, I am happy to help you with advice if you would like it.

thanks Peter.. looking at StuG equivalent its likely to be 2mm thick my 3mm wide type size... i could do it out of plasti-card instead. will see when i get round to starting - need to work out exactly what I am going to do (new engine deck, schuerzen, modified turret, new exhausts) - idea is a production tank post WWII using standard Soviet equipment (so engine and possibly gun)

If I were to do this I would look at spending some time and effort into making templates for cutting the strips to make those hangers. I'm guessing that making templates will be less work in total compared to making molds, casting, figuring out what went wrong, new mold, casting again, ....
Just my thoughts ...

yeah there would be templates made... i need to work out the position/dimensions for the supports... going to be mesh skirts as well as that seems to be the Hungarian way during WWII

Well,

I took a look at the calendar today and it seems there are only 2(two) weeks to go till the start of the Campaign

So fellow Campaigners, are you ready?
Are shelf queens dusted off, are plans and drawings prepared?

i have been doing this for a few weeks... have very rough drawings of the external work, may look at doing some work on the internals of the turret so i can leave a hatch open (toyed with the idea of building an engine but scrapped that idea)....

I was thinking about 2T3M - trailer for transportation of R-17 rocket. Yes, that one - for the Scud. :-)
