This is Armenian Radio; our listeners asked us: “When Nixon visited Moscow, he and Khrushchev ran around the Kremlin in a race. Nixon came the first. How should our media report on that?”

We’re answering: “The report should be as follows: ‘In the international running competition the General Secretary of the Communist Party took the honorable second place.’ Mister Nixon came in one before last.”

This is Armenian Radio; our listeners asked us: “Why policemen always walk the streets in teams of three?”

We’re answering: “The partners in the police team are always chosen in such a way that one of them knows how to read, the other how to write, and the third one, naturally, has to keep watch over those two intellectuals.”

This is Armenian Radio; our listeners asked us: “Why do we need two central newspapers, Pravda (Truth) and Izvestiya (News) if both are organs of the same Party?”

We’re answering: “Because in Pravda there is no news, and in Izvestiya there is no truth.”

This is Armenian Radio; our listeners asked us: “Is it possible to solve a problem which has no solution?”

We’re answering: “We don't answer questions related to agriculture.”

This is Armenian Radio; our listeners asked us: “Are there questions you can't answer?”

We’re answering: “No. We approach our job in accordance with the Marx' dialectics. To any question we can give any answer.”

A Russian, a Frenchman and an Englishman argued about Adam's nationality.

The Frenchman said, "Of course Adam was French. Look how passionately he made love to Eve!"

The Englishman said, "Of course Adam was British. Look how he gave his only apple to the lady, like a real gentleman."

The Russian said, "Of course Adam only could be Russian. Who else, possessing nothing but a sole apple, and walking with a naked ass, still believed he was in a paradise?"

In a school, a survey was a conducted among the students. One of the questions was "Would you suggest a classification of Soviet citizens in accordance with any criterion you may choose?"

The son of a KGB officer answered: 'There are three categories of Soviet people, namely, 1) those who have already been to prison; 2) those who are now in prison, and 3) those who will be in prison."

This is Armenian Radio; our listeners asked us: “Can Communism be built in Switzerland?”
We’re answering: “Yes, but it would be pitty"

This is Armenian Radio; our listeners asked us: “Can Communism be built in Sahara?”
We’re answering: “Sure, but soon afterwards shortage of sand is expected"

This is Armenian Radio; our listeners asked us: “Is it true that Piotr Petrovich won a Lada car from the Lottery?”
We’re answering:"Yes, although:
-it was not Piotr Petrovich, but Ivan Ivanovich,
-it was not a Lada car, but a bycicle,
-and he didn't winn it from the Lottery, but it was stolen from him"

Those are some of the jokes I remember from my childhood.
It was national sport-albeit dangerous to some extent-to tell them.

Danger in Humour:

A judge walks out of the courtroom, laughing loudly. A colleague asks, "What is it you laugh about?"

"Ah, I just heard an excellent anecdote," the judge says, sweeping tears of laughter.

"An anecdote? Tell me!"

"Are you crazy? I just sentenced a man to ten years for that anecdote."

------------------------------

Some thirty people gathered to celebrate the birthday of the host. After a few bottles of vodka were imbibed, the tongues got loose, and the guests started telling political jokes. Through laughter, a voice sounded, "Comrades, please, it's too noisy. In such a noise, I can't hear the jokes. I am writing it down, you know."

A man sitting next to the one who's writing down, says admiringly, "How do you manage to write down that fast?"

"Oh, I'm writing down only the initials."

--------------------------------------------

An university Professor of Folklore asked his students, "Do you believe that with time anecdotes are being reevaluated?"

"Yes. They used to give for an anecdote fifteen years, and now they give only three."

---------------------------------------

A competition for the best anecdote has been announced. First prize: twenty five years; second prize: twenty years, and two condolence prizes: fifteen years each.

---------------------------------------

A guard asked a political prisoner, "What is your term?"

"Ten years."

"What for?"

"For nothing."

"What a lie! For nothing they give only five years."

-------------------------------------------
Two former schoolmates met in the street.

"Where do you work?"

"I am a school teacher. And what about you?"

"I work for the KGB."

"Oh, and what are you doing at the KGB?"

"We unearth those who are dissatisfied."

"You mean, there are also some who are satisfied?"

"Those who are satisfied are dealt with by the Division for the Fight Against the Embezzlements of the Socialist Property."

-----------------------------------------------

A Japanese worker was sent to Russia to fix a piece of Japanese machinery. The Japanese worked his eight hours a day without speaking to anybody. In a month, his contract expired. Before leaving for Japan, the guest said with tears in his eyes, "Me apologize, me good worker. Me know workers solidarity. But me has contract, me has to work, me apologize for not participating in your long strike."

-------------------------------------------------
A Russian, a Frenchman and an American argued who was the bravest man. The American said, "For example, we take ten cars of which one has no brakes. We throw dice, each of us gets a car, we drive on a mountain road. Afterwards one of us is in a hospital, and the other nine visit him there."

"That's nothing," the Frenchman said. "We choose ten girls and one of them has AIDS. We throw dice and each one of us gets a girl, and we make love to them throughout the night. Afterwards one of us is in a hospital, and the other nine visit him."

The Russian said, "We gather in an apartment, even though we know that one of us must be an informer. We tell political jokes throughout the night, and then nine are in jail, and one visits the other nine there."

------------------------------------

In a school in the republic of Georgia the teacher asked the students to tell about their fathers.

"Turashvili, tell about your father."

"My father grows oranges. He takes them to Moscow, sells there and makes good money."

"Now you, Beridze."

"My father grows laurel leaves. He takes them to Moscow, sells there, and makes good money."

"Now you, Klividze."

"My father works in the Division for the Fight Against Embezzlements and Speculations. When Beridze's and Turashvili's fathers go to Moscow, they always first see my father. So he makes good money."

"Now you, Chavchavadze."

"My father is a chemical engineer."

The class burst in laughter.

"Children," the teacher said. "It's not good to laugh at somebody's grief."

------------------------------------

http://www.johndclare.net/Russ12_Jokes.htm

A hotel. A room for four with four strangers. Three of them soon open a bottle of vodka and proceed to get acquainted, then drunk, then noisy, singing, and telling political jokes. The fourth man desperately tries to get some sleep; finally, in frustration he surreptitiously leaves the room, goes downstairs, and asks the lady concierge to bring tea to Room 67 in ten minutes. Then he returns and joins the party. Five minutes later, he bends to a power outlet: "Comrade Major, some tea to Room 67, please." In a few minutes, there's a knock at the door, and in comes the lady concierge with a tea tray. The room falls silent; the party dies a sudden death, and the prankster finally gets to sleep. The next morning he wakes up alone in the room. Surprised, he runs downstairs and asks the concierge what happened to his companions. "You don't need to know!" she answers. "B-but...but what about me?" asks the terrified fellow. 'Oh, you...well...Comrade Major liked your tea gag a lot."

The KGB, the GIGN (or in some versions of the joke, the FBI) and the CIA are all trying to prove they are the best at catching criminals. The Secretary General of the UN decides to set them a test. He releases a rabbit into a forest, and each of them has to catch it. The CIA people go in. They place animal informants throughout the forest. They question all plant and mineral witnesses. After three months of extensive investigations, they conclude that the rabbit does not exist. The GIGN (or FBI) goes in. After two weeks with no leads they burn the forest, killing everything in it, including the rabbit, and make no apologies: the rabbit had it coming. The KGB goes in. They come out two hours later with a badly beaten bear. The bear is yelling: "Okay! Okay! I'm a rabbit! I'm a rabbit!"

In a prison, two inmates are comparing notes. "What did they arrest you for?" asks the first. "Was it a political or common crime?" "Of course it was political. I'm a plumber. They summoned me to the district Party committee to fix the sewage pipes. I looked and said, 'Hey, the entire system needs to be replaced.' So they gave me seven years."[6]

A frightened man came to the KGB. "My talking parrot has disappeared." "That's not the kind of case we handle. Go to the criminal police." 'Excuse me, of course I know that I must go to them. I am here just to tell you officially that I disagree with the parrot."

fenders are now horizontal(ish), drive wheels are rear mounted and level(ish) 3 return rollers per side... turret is starting to take shape. plan is to cover the mess I am making in very thin plasti-card then coat in Mr Surfacer 500 for casting texture (test run on off cuts shows it should work) and to make it all look "one". Biggest worry now is whether there are enough track links to handle the altered shape that the ne configuration will bring - if not, will have to do side skirts a la Chieftan to try to hide them

making progress... turret moved slightly further back and lowered (original had about 5mm rim above the hull) to be flush with the upper hull.. Turret is slowly taking shape. I am hoping that when i go to the Mr Surfacer stage it will become a lot more "singluar" rather than patches.... (still gaps that need to be filled as well of course)

Progressing nicely Robert.

thanks Pete. further work - hull and turret continue to evolve. started on the rear engine deck as well... one thing i haven't quite wored out is the exhaust outlet - the T-55 has it out the side (roughly where I have the left hand hatch) - was tempted to do similar but have 2 "normal" exhausts straight out with a mesh "cage" round thre (thinking tha one i have the thing done (but not painted) I may look at urban up-armour for the 1956 uprising (so mesh panels along the sides and perhaps on the front glacis)

Nice work, Robert!
I've spent some hours yesterday and today working on my ZIF-55:
Compressor(lacking cylinder heads-I still have to decide how will I build them) and Cooler test-fitted on frame:

More will come next weekend,

stunning as always... putting mine to shame (but I am thinking the grills on the engine deck will look empty.... plus once the basic shape is done I can start adding "furniture" on the turret and fenders)

Robert, it is coming along quite well. You seem to be putting your skills down a bit. Be less Moriarty and more Odd Ball, have a little faith Baby, have a little Faith".

Robert,Nick,Peter-thanks!

I will second Peter on the thumbs up,Robert.
You've done a wonderful job with all these modifications and have accomplished the most difficult task of aligning beveled and sloped surfaces.
Keep up the good work!

Yovchev, a good job. If you do so, by the end of the month you will be presented for a Russian truck.
Robert, an interesting project. Congratulations and I expect the sequel.
Svetoslav, you always surprise me with the ease with which you build and transform your models. I look forward to the sequel.

thanks all.. more progress... no room on the rear of the engine deck for 2 sets of grills (eg T-55). Used the kit louvres to fill the gap! The white on the d=fender is the exhaust cover (copied from the Walker Bulldog). Both exhausts will be covered by it (using the kit exhausts - just the ends will be seen really).

On the turret, I am going to use Mr Surfacr 500 for the casting texture BUT not used it before. If I want "furniture" on the turret- will that stick to the Mr Surfacer or better to attach now & Mr Surfacer around (thinking hooks, hand rails (think they can go on after) , vision ports etc)

Hi fellow scratch builders - I'm sticking with my recent trend of larger than 1/35 scale, for this build anyway.

You'll see some progress below - this is my attempt at an Irish Army Rangers Ford F-350 in 1/24 scale, using the Meng kit. I'll find and post a pic of the real thing another time - I'm short on time today -

Please see below:

For starters, this kit is huge!

and, it's pretty nice:

and, I was not at all eager to do what needed to be done to build this truck: cut off the roof, convert the cab to a two door model, shorten the frame, driveshaft, fix the suspension...and so on - but, I did!:

Above, the result and the pile of cut off parts for proof that I did it!

As some of you know, I like suspensions on off-road trucks...so, here you can see i had to rework the coils etc - and, it sits on all four!....and below, early work on the cab. To do this right, you can't just cut it up - you need to rebuild what's left of it and fill the various gaps etc:

Above the top and bottom of the dashboard - eventually part of a roll bar will sit in the notch but you won't see this area when it's done, and as so much of the cab is cut off, you will see much of the rest of this - so, holes and gaps need to be filled.

Below is progress to now - the cab is getting buttoned up:

It's beginning to look like something other than a cut up kit....

Cheers
Nick

Robert, I'm using Mr.Surfacer 500 quite often.

IMHO it will be better if you first attach your "furniture" on top of the turret and then add texture with Mr.Surfacer 500.
You can always get rid of texture in "unwanted" locations by wipping them with acetone.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:some plastics tend to react to acetone!
To avoid problems, it is essential to trial-test acetone on leftover sprue from the kit before applying it to smoothen or wipe-out excess Mr.Surfacer 500!

thats perfect, thanks... i need to "upgrade" the commanders hatch and then will stat no "furniture"... I could do with sourcing a machine gunner for the other hatch, have US ones but no Soviet. what should I be looking for??
