Well with only 9 days left, I’m not sure what to do here. Only about ¼ posted their progress reports, 4 dropping out leaving 27 still enlisted. I was asked by 3 that they needed extra time, so would that help with everyone else, extending it another month, Sept. 31st. If you still think you can not finish, or have plans of dropping out please PM me so as I know who’s still in and not. Thanks.

Matthew, Jim sorry to hear about your DNF’S. Maybe on the next run.

Joe, although I planned to finnish my car in time I'm happy with your decission about the extra time; it takes away the deadline stress

Hi guy's

I gave my Old's another coat of paint last night. When I get home from work, I'll remove the masking tape and if it looks ok, I'll take a few shots of it.

I need to paint a few details on the dashboard, apply the decals, gloss coat the body and fix the windows, the Nascar pins, the rear bumper and the rear spoiler to the body, then I'm done.

I hope to be finished by 31'st of august.

Here are some progress shots of my '87 Olds Delta 88 Nascar.

The paintjob didn't come out as expected. Some of the black paint ran under the maskingtape, so I have to do some touching up. The body is ab in Humbrol enamels.

I uploaded the pictures to the members gallery, since I'm not sure if the Armorama 500 gallery is for finished models only.

Still hope to make it by 31'st of august.

I'll post some in process pics tonight. The chassis is mostly complete/painted. The body shop should be putting the first coat of black on tonight too. The real world got heavily in the way, so this ends up being an OOB to prevent a DNF.

I will most likely not finish my car. For some reason, I just can't get any momentum in building it.

Hi Jesper,

Don't be too hard on yourself. As far as the pictures show, there is little to tough up.
I like the colours very much: the black and yellow scheme: like a wasp!

Sorry, no in-process pics last night. I spent a lot longer putting the black paint coats down yesterday evening than I tought I would have to. The gloss coat came out great, then I found some dust in the paint on the hood/bonnet.

I hope to get some pictures tonight.

Coming round to take the checkered flag!

Here's my finished entry, a Revell 1/24 kit oob. Actually it's in the A.500 gallery, I ran out of patience before I could get the pic to appear here. I hate computers. It's a nice simple kit. I wanted it to look like it had just run 500 miles so I couldn't resist applying some rubber and brake dust. The #3 car in one of the pics isn't an entry, it's one I built years ago.

Well done on an unusual campaign Joe, it's nice to try something different from armour once in a while.

Rich

The Sept 31 will do well for me as I'm stuck out of town for a week.

My Corvette made a 40 cm. drop from table to chair...
HAve to get the engine back in place and glue on some broken off parts on the engine as well as some interior parts, including the steering wheel

I managed to find some batteries for the camera. Here are a few in process shots of the 1/25th AMT 97 Kurt Busch Sharpie car. The chassis is done except for a couple minor detail paint spots (lugnuts, window net hasps, etc.). Obviously the body and wheels are waiting for decals. Because of the short time left no weathering is going to be done to this one.

Good kit no fit problems, but the interior is a little sparse, the dash has no engraved dial faces or decals either. Comments and helps are welcome.

Don't worry Dave. I believe the campaign is extended a month if I'm right. So there is some time left.
Very nice car by the way!!! Very nice details!

OK, I managed to restore the damage after the 40 cm. drop. So, actually I'm back on the point I was last week.

I found the tires to use for the drag version. On the picture you can see the difference between the tires; on the right is the original version, on the left the dragrace tire. I'm cutting of the moulding line in the mid of the rubber tires profile. It's not the nicest job to do, but the moulding line is almost 1 mm high, so it's very disturbing.

Also the engine has reached its highest point!

I gave my Old's a gloss coat today. It didn't turn out to good. Orange peal all over the hood. I'm not sure what went wrong. Perhaps I didn't thin the clear coat enough

I'm not sure if Joe has extended the campaign or not.

YELLOW FLAG SITUATION!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO EVERY DRIVER IN THIS CAMPAIGN!!

Due to the absence of Joe, our campaignleader, (see this thread in the Junk Drawer forum) this campaign is officially yellow flagged and is extended as from this moment on untill Joe returns and until september 31.

This allows adequate time for all drivers to pit and catch back up to the pace car for the restart.

Joe agreed to let me keep an eye on the race and drive the pace car untill he's back or untill the race ends at september 31. (That would be a pace car finnish, don't know if that's striking FIA or Nascar rules)

Every driver in this campaign will recieve a PM for me so I am sure everybody knows the campaign is extended.

Meanwhile, feel free to post any comments and pictures in this thread. Or place your pictures in the Armorma's 500 gallery.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, mainly the driver ran out of talent, my Kurt Busch #97 car is changing over to the #6 Mark Martin Pfizer car instead. I totally screwed up the decals that were supposed to cover the entire front end. The complex curves etc. just beat me down last night. Thanks to my son, who picked the same kit with different decals in a raffle, I can change it over to one of its sister cars. I now remember why I stopped building things that have large decals. :-) :-) :-)

The body shell is sprayed with oven cleaner and sitting in a bag on the counter. I still hope to meet the original deadline of Aug 31, but the extension may be needed.

Dave, sorry to hear about the decal disaster. I know what you mean; those big decals sometimes work on your nerves. I mostly cut bigger decals in pieces, that works bether. But curved decals are a real pain in the ...

Good thing you can use the decals from your son's car, but what is he gonna use now??? :-)

I'll get a set of aftermarket decals for him later today when I hit the LHS for some paint.

He's just mad I took his Mark Martin ones and not the Dale Jarrett ones.

Oh well, I'm going downstairs to scrub off the paint and decals now.

Actually, I told him I was taking a set, he just didn't know which ones.

The paint and decals came off without problem. I'll be spraying later then watch the Bristol race...
