Hello fellow racers

I have finally finished my '87 Olds Delta 88 Nascar racer. It's build oob, painted completely in Humbrol enamels. The lack of sponser decals, might not be authentic Nascar, but I kind of like the clean look, so I desided not to use all the decals, that came with the kit.
I know, I haven't removed the seamlines on the tires. I have yet to find a good way to do so, on soft vinyl tires.

Hi Jesper, looks real nice. I like the color combo on the outside but am not too sure about such a dark interior.

To remove those mold lines I usually start by trimming around the tire with a brand new blade laid down so that it just skims along and peels up the seam. Then sand around the diameter. Sometime you have to freeze them to make them firmer to sand and trim.

You're right David, the interior is quite dark.
Had I build the car according to the instruction sheet, the intire interior should have been painted black, leaving the fire extinguisher, the only non black part.

Hey Jesper!
That yellow '87 Olds Delta 88 Nascar looks very nice. Specially on the dio base you made. How did you made the concrete / asphalt?

Just a few days before the finish line comes in sight.
The last rounds of this campaign...
I'm working hard on my Corvette.
How's the rest doing???

Hi Paul

I made the asphalt, using diluted white glue and very fine sand. Put a thin coat of diluted glue on the base, apply the sand and emidiately blow away any excess sand. I painted it in dark grey and drybrushed with vaious shades of light grey. I masked of with scotch tape, then drybrushed with flatt black, to make the tiremarks.

Put the pedal to the metal. There's only 3 laps to go, until the checkered flag.

Here's my drag racing '67 Corvette 'Road Pirate'!!!

It's the first model I used Future on and I must say the effect works well!

'Mother' Joe, thanks for the nice campaign!

Lastly, u don't need to be in combat with war machines to get a ribbon. All u need is a devil engine and a nice chasis.

Hey all,

I just mailed Joe to ask him how he's doing and if he want to raise the checkered flag himself. I'll wait for his responce.
If he's not able yet, I'll be his secundant and raise the flag first thing in the morning of October 1st. (after I wake up!).

Eerie, you are right: it's a whole different 'fight' to get awarded than in the armored campaigns.
But knowing how I and others struggled to build and finish a car kit I must say it was a fight not to be under estimated!
How many 'armor builders' who joined have nightmares about those glossy paint, way too big decals, (re-)paint job problems and family issues about 'borrowed' decalsheets! :-) :-)
It was a hard fight but those we finished deserved the ribbon in all glory!

So take a good look: this ribbon will be awarded to you all somewere this week!

Hello 500 campaigners,
Well I just have to say thank you for your entries, there sure were some nice looking cars passing through here. I have talked with Paul…007 and he assured me that he will be passing out the ribbons to those who finished with their entries. As for my entry I’ll try to finish tonight…I hope. There’s is not much to do, so I’ll see if I can knock it out. Out of 30 or so participants, a 1/3 has posted photos. I have to say that I really liked the two race cars that Delbert and Jacques entered using Armorama to sponsor their cars. Again I applaud you all and yell a BIG thank you for joining and your participation in the first car campaign.

Paul, thank you for taking over and looking after the posts and photos.

I need to spin around the track in the winning car and then shoot champaign all over the place...what, this was a cyber-race? oh well...

Glad to see that I was not the only one who used the Armorama logo (Delbert) and that there are a lot of finishers.

After working with my particular model, my hat really goes off to all of you if you had even half the "fun" I had with my decals. I definately have a greater resepect for the motor-heads now.

And finally, this campaign made me build something I have not built in over 25 years...a car. So the campaigns are working for me, broadening my horizons (I think I will take a break on cars though...) :-)

Unfortunately my Mercedes SSKL skidded in the final corner and ended up in the barriers.

Actually I was still busy finishing the paint work, when it got knocked off the desk, ended up in a small heap and is now being put together piece by piece. The mudguards are extremely fragile and need extensive repair work, as does the exhaust and one or two other bits.

Photo below is of repairs as they stand now.
