When is the limit to join?
Because somehow I am very very tempted to join the campaign when I return home. I need some simple builds to get into the hang of things again.... after a long hiatus, and only a stack of ambitious projects waiting...
Is it possible to but into a fight to even things up?
Thanks, Harm.
PS. I like the concept very much....

BAHAAAAAA!!!I'LL BURST INTO TEARS!!!! Thanks everyone. I couldn'r even find a resonable profile for Litvyak's planes since now.
Rowan, you don2t need to get yourself into trouble. I have no Yak-1s yet. I was searching for a Litvyak Yak-1 and thus I found now I'll buy the Acurate Miniatures one so I won't need the decals. Thanks anyway.

Hi Harm!
The limit is December 31st 2006 23:59 hour. But since the end date of the Campaign is one minute later you should sign up earlier! :-)
That's the purpose of this Group Build. Build any aircraft you want in any scale. I would even accept models wich have been already started (about 50% of the build). This can be a way to finish that kit you never had the oportunity to complete. The important thing about this Campaign is to share a build with a duel partner.
It is possible to "enter" a duel between two participants (if they agree) but the limit of each duel is three. The reason is simple: one duel with four participants = two duels with two participants! I don't want this to end in separate "mini" Group Builds. The "Duel" concept should remain.
By the way, what kind of aircraft do you want to build?
Jean-Luc

Thanks Jean-Luc...
Probably something allied,
I am thinking about a Spitfire.... it depends a little on what I can find in the local hobby shop. It would be 1.72 scale...
I do have a F-14A in the works (less then 50% done), but that one would get a bit of an alternative paintscheme.... so it is out of the question.....
Greetz,
Harm

Jean-Luc I'm happy to have you as an opponent - provided Wiz is ok with it.
The more for me to shoot down the better... :-) :-)
I'll have a chat with Wizard (he's one cubicle over) and I'll get back to you. We where planning something a little different with our build, that whilst being a bit more difficult with you so far away
, is not impossible.
I'll PM you the details.
Cheers,
AndyD

I am just getting back to this thread after awhile and noticed the attack on my name a few pages back. How dare you... . I challenge you to a duel...wait...never mind.
Anyway, to be truthful, I would be glad to change my name if someone could explain how. It came from a chess playing site anyway.

Hi Leon
It's not something you can do yourself. You'd need to ask Staff_Jim to transfer your account - and, unless you're really unhappy, bear in mind that he has a lot to do with all the site changes. Jim took pity on me when I realised that my first callsign "Porky" (my old PC gaming name) was causing confusion due to my interest in Aircraft when anything porcine on Armorama is associated with the DSB, but we were a smaller community then and I was lucky that he had the time.
The alternative is to start a new account with a fresh identity - but then you'd lose the link to your previous contributions.
All the best
Rowan
PS - And, as you can see, "Porky" still lives on in my strapline.

Hi everyone,
I recently joined the campaign and I'm looking for rivals. I first challenged Jolly Roger and I think he accepted, so my P-47 D-30 Thunderbolt (1/72 Revell kit), based in France in 1945, will face his He-162.
I might take on another rival, I have Academy's Mitsibushi Zero, Me-163 Komet, P-51B Mustang (1944 based in England), Fw-190A8(Heinz Bär's plane,1944) and Revell's Me-262, all in 1/72 scale. Anyone wishing to clash against one of these is welcome...

Hi Leon!
That about your name was only a joke... I don't have a problem at all with your callsign... it just don't fit in my table! :-)

Hi Emre!
Another duel with Jollyroger!!! I think he must be crazy! Does he know what he's doing?
I think you are number 4 in the list... so you have to wait in the queue I'm afraid! But you are welcome of course! :-)

I am afraid he does know what he is doing Jean-Luc. But the situation shows that all I am building had to be German for what I am doing is something like 1941 Germany. Attack to everyone:} Anyways. I am a serrial builder and I have a whollotta time(at least it seems so now). And I couldn't refuse an old friend. Anywasy we'll see what will happen(don't worry, I don't intend to turn any of my opponents down but take'm down...oh exept the Greek one*).
I am intending to hide under your "I'll exept %50 finished models" word on the He162 .....
*We've lost two F16s today, each from both sides in a "friendly dog fight" again. As far as I know our pilot is rescued alive and the Greek pilot is still missing, I hope he makes it back home. It is a horrible loss for peace time.

Well Sir Jolly Roger, I am honored you accepted my challenge for a duel. Let's see who takes who down... and you are the first on my list.
I dug out a Russian P-39 Airacobra "Russian Ace" kit from Academy, it was lying somewhere deep in my stash. If anyone else is still looking for a fight, I have made my offer of kits and I'm itching for some more dueling...
A whole bad case of luck about our and our neighbour's F-16s crashing...

Yeah, I knew that. Just wanted to acknowledge it that I finally saw the fun-poking at my name. I was kind of hoping the name change would be an easy thing to do, but I checked and the name I would really like isn't available anyway. Oh well...

Hi everyone,
...
Fw-190A8(Heinz Bär's plane,1944)
...
Emre,
I would like to take you up on the offer and make an attempt to down Herr Bär. I would like to build a British plane for this purpose. However, seeing that I have NO knowledge about WW II planes apart from a name here and there, let alone from appropriate era's and types for these planes, what would be appropriate planes to choose from? I do want to build a fighter or ground attack aircraft (I was thinking in the Spitfire, Hurricane, Typhoon, Mosquito range). I assume yours is a day-fighter.....
My build will be 1/72, OOB. Also, as I have to buy the plane I can look for an appropriate allied plane... However, seeing that I am currenlty in the US, leave for travels in a few hours and not home until the 8th of June, and have subsequent things to do (talk with professors, see family and the like), I'll not be able to start until somewhere in the third week of June (somewhere in the week of 12th - 16th of June).
Because of my travels, I have no idea how my ability to acces the internet will be. There will be at least a few gaps (flight tomorrow, a number of days using the train, flight to the Netherlands). Unless my computer back home is broken, I will have good acces again from June 8 onwards. So there is the distinct possibility that I will not be able to respond as frequently as I would like (though I'll try to get access to internet in San Fransisco, Chicago and Washington DC).
Harm
PS. I hope the other pilot is found as well....

Ok Dutchbird, if it is OK with you too, I accept your challenge, though I am skeptical about your success at downing me (Heinz Bar is piloting my plane) :-)
I suppose you can try a P-47 or a P-51 if you don't want to stick to British, Bar downed some of these for sure and in 1944 he was chasing American bomber formations in his FW-190. Other than that, by that time British Typhoons were flying ground attack missions I guess, other possible British candidates around April 1944, we need to check. I can recommend the Academy's 1/72 WW2 series, I'm slowly building them all and they are adorable, have no fitting problems or such and come up with lots of detail.
Your build should be easier than mine, I have to struggle with all those crazy German dots, spots, RLM colors and camo schemes.
I can wait for you till the end of July or August if you have time problems, that's fine with me. I already have to take on Jolly Roger anyway
OK, now I have two pilots to duel against. Maaaybe I can take another as a last challenge?

Howdy ALL
I have been away from the site for quite awhile again, mainly due to spreading what little time I have into an almost transparent sheet of 'I-think-I'm-covering-all-my-bases'....
Anyway, I came across this "Duel in the Sky" campaign thread and thought it was such a bloody good idea, that I just couldn't pass it up! That is, if there's still room.
My proposed entry would be a 1/48th scale K&B Gotha G. V. bomber from WWI that I am presently backdating to a G. IV. so this would be a direct challenge to any Allied, or RFC stringbag builders out there.
Since it is a rather large bomber, and would normally be attacked by multiple allied aircraft, this opens up the possibility of multiple opponents { say, 2?} responding to my gauntlet toss.......
So, if you chaps can find it in your heart to allow a bonifide Armorama 'old dawg' to join up I would like to, as Monty Python would say {in a very pinched French accent}, "....spit in the face of you stinking British sissy boys!"
Please let me know, thx.

And Herr Baer or not, everybody has to loose sometime . So yes, I'll see what I can come up with... and I'll let you know as soon as I have a plane (model and/or kit).
So Mr. TedMamere, you can pencil in Emroglan and me for a Duel (his FW 190-A8) vs my British something...
Greetz, and good luck in your other dogfights,

Well Harm, I'm honored to duel against you too
I will wait till you say "Go!", but I might be unavailable for sometime during August as my work sometimes requires me to travel to other cities and stay away from home for sometime, there's a 3 week long business trip scheduled for August.
Then I'm against Jolly Roger with my P-47 and I'm against Harm with my Fw-190A8. On a second thought I guess this challenge is enough for me and I'm withdrawing my current offer about a third duel. (Since I enlisted in one too many campaigns for the second part of the year I guess I should not over extend myself)
Looking forward to have fun...

If you don't mind a tiny pesky opponent, I'd be glad to provide a 1/72 scale opposition... mind you I could blow the pic up to 1/48 scale LOL. Let me know the markings or timeframe you're doing (I imagine it would be a London raid of 1917) and I could pick something suitable

Howdy again to All
to TedMamere:
Thx for runnin' the show here....look's like ya got a 'good thing goin' ...and the open scope of your Campaign is a dandy ingredient indeed!
to Rob:
As to your reference of "tiny pesky opponent"...well, as our good Campaign ramrod has already said, any scale goes!
And to answer your query about markings and timeframe, I have been planning on either Brandenberg's red-tailed Gotha {from the London raids}, or potentially something from Kaghol 3 squadron out of Ghent...not sure yet.
If you don't mind me asking, what might you send against my Gotha 'Giant'?....hmmm?......."you smelly english!" :-) :-)
