Hi Charles. Ive always been impressed with your models, but this one blows all the earlier stuff away. Great scratchwork throughout ... you´ve come a long way. Its great your getting the recognition this model deserves.
Eventhough theres no figures, it does have a lived in feeling, with all the stowage and straps. Attention to small details is what its all about. Cant wait to see next year at the Open. Nice one!!

Thanks Frank. Yep, I've come a long way and still a couple of miles to go. We'll see I will take this to the next IPMS Open next year. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Charles:
Truly amazing job. Some might quibble over a few fine details, but I'm utterly impressed by how you've avoided all the current weathering fads and fallacies. No chipping on the (very hard) factory paint, no rusting of the (very stain resistant) armour steel. Instead, a realistic coating of dust, and the rust is limited to mild steel accessories - like tow cable ends.
We had a company of LAV III's with the Bosnia Battle-Group in 2003, and your model had me doing a double-take - it reminded me so much of my pics of the 1/1 scale edition. The roll of concertina under the bow, the boxes in the turret bin, the straps hanging everywhere, the rusted tow cable ends, and the water cans looking clean in their rack against the dust and mud spattered rear, are all utterly typical of our vehicles that summer.

Dear Charles
What can I say - fantastic model!
I've followed this build from the start and have continually been impressed by the precision of your 'Eyeball Mk1'. Simply awesome stuff. This is a piece of work that you can really be proud of.
My one question - what do you have planned next? Or are you going take a well earned rest?
Cheers
Karol

Quick question. What did you use to make the straps?

Jason, I used strips of paper. Ordinary writing paper will do.

Thank you kindly John. I am glad you approve the build. It took a while but the results were worth it. Getting all the help from people like Jason, Mike, Logan and many others, it turned out pretty okay. My next build will be a M1134 ATGM but I am waiting for the AFV club version to be release before I start on it.

Charles
Just to give you an update, I just did a weekend marathon where i worked on the LAV from Friday until Sunday Night, I got a lot done (more photos to follow.) I notice one thing about both of ours builds. The hull of the vehicle does not connect to the Capstan cover as it does on the original vehicle. it doesn't make the model a 100 persent accurate, but it adds more visual effect. I've looked over the reference photos again and again, my guess is that the hull is higher or longer then the stryker variant. Hopefully someone else will catch it and make an accurate LAV III. More photos to follow soon. [

Thanks. I know, I was aware of that about 1/3 of the way through the conversion. I decided if I had to correct it I would have to rip off all the work I had done, believe me it was a tough decision. But I decided to live with it. I guess only the most experience LAV III operators would notice it. like you.
BTW, please send me a pic so I know that we are talking about the same thing.

Charles am I right, you said you will be building the M1134 ATGM? Which kit will you be using to make the conversion? As far as I know there is no kit available or am I missing something?
BTW, does anyone know when the other stryker from AFV Club is suppose to be out? The one with the huge gun mount. I forgot the name of it.
