Gentlemen, it is with great regret that I have discovered that I have to opt out of this campaign due to a change in my financial situation.
I'd love to keep on with this one, but it's either this campaign (and build a single model) or carry on with the "Father and Son" (and build the two that are already special ordered and paid for.) But rest assured that I will keep my eyes on this with great interest! I'd LOVE to see how everybody's builds turn out!
Tough luck....
I'll be glad to have you back anytime, if there's a change in your financial status. We are rolling in August anyway and you can join later in the year.
Hope you can join again.

I just cannot decide between teh OT-26 or the Flammpanzer II. When it comes time I guess I will ahve to flip a coin and build one. Or I could bite the bullet and build both.

Dear campaigners,
We have one week left before we launch. Let's get those kits ready!
Jim if you have both kits, I would suggest the OT-26, so we will have variety (ahem... I am building a Panzer II after all...ehm). But this is my selfish suggestion worth two cents, you can of course build any of them you like

I don't have either kit right now, but I will get one really soon. I will more than likely go with the OT-26.
It will be along with my Russian theme anyway.

I wish I had the flamethrower version of the 251 halftrack. I'll probably end up buying an 1/72 tank instead.

The flamethrower SdKfz. 251 should still be in production and not so difficult to get from an internet store. However, I am also starting out with a 1/72 OT-34 so no problem in entering a 1/72 tank
I am looking forward to start mine. It has PE and rubber tires. Interesting - especially in this scale.

Hi Andras,
Luckymodel had them in stock until recently, I even bought one about a month ago, maybe you could check with them whether they can get it.

Thank, but it's not the availability that is the problem... It's the fact that my personal banker / girlfriend would gut me -and with good reason- if I started spending on kits a week before my graduation

Where are you located, I might be able to pass along a Satan conversion I have sitting around if you don' mind stooping down and working on an Allied Tank. You just have to buy one of those cheap Stuart models.
I'm up on the panhandle.
I also sent you a message.
Let me know, you can also just message me if that's easier,

That is a nice heads up on the OT-26. I found a color scheme I plan to use and now just need to get my kit. I did find some after market Friulmodel tracks, but they are 3 times as much as my kit is going to cost.

I find it funny how some of us are looking for a "reason" or "excuse" to buy another kit. But, I too an in the same boat. Last night I was looking for an ambulance and my wife asked that standard question, "Don't you have enough kits?" I told her it was a group build. Of course she didn't buy it.
Here is my target paint scheme for my OT-26. I like the 2/3 on the side. Reminds me of the Three Stooges when they are in prison.

The first little update on my build. I have started on my T-34 for this campaign. It is the UM 1/72 kit. The box and box contents are shown earlier in this tread.
I have finished with the suspension. A very interesting approach that UM takes to this as all the tires are individual rubber tires. One of the obvious benefits of this is that it is very easy to show a burned out tank with no rubber on the tires. Otherwise I do not see any obvious benefits. The rubber is very shiny so needs to be painted anyway, and it is a little difficult to align all the tires perfectly on the suspension.
So far no major problems though and it seems like this kit will fly together

After having quickly finished a Revell Leopard 2 A4 for the father and son campaign, I started on the rest of the construction of my OT-34. It required some more construction than the Revell Leopard 2 A4 especially on the turret.
However, in total it only took me a evening in front of the television to build the rest of the OT-34 and the Leopard 2 A4.
The UM 1/72 OT-34 is a good build with some novel features such as PE, rubber tires, link and length tracks and lots of smaller detail parts. It builds up without any problems although the rubber tires can be a little difficult to align properly and it needs a little piece of plastic to close a gap on the front plate.

Well I bought my kit today! Pz. II Flammenpanzer. I got it for a steal! $5 in 1/35. It has some PE and resin tracks with it as well! It seems that my local hobby shop owner got it in a trade and did not want it. So I gladly picked it up! I nearly got goose bumps when I walked out of the place. I kept looking over my shoulder expecting him to chase me down!

PS. I found this site and thought it might help! It is rather simple but depicts some great examples!

Great bargain, Mike! Any cheaper than that and it would have been stealing
What manufacturer is it?
Thanks for the link. The Pz. I flame thrower "conversion" was new to me. I have not heard about that one before. Seems of quite limited value with a max range of 25 meters.

I have given my OT-34 the first paint coats and have experimented a little with snow made from baking soda on the suspension. It did not really go as planned as I think I use tooo much moisture (thinned white glue) which made the snow look bulky and overscale on a couple of the wheels. I will breaking it up carefully on some wheels and apply a new thinner coat.
