Painting
I airbrushed the whole model in light grey and then airbrushed all the edges and panels black as I wanted to test the inverse painting method. I then airbrushed the grey parts olive drab, taking care to only lightly overspray the black painted areas. This was a rather time consuming process as at this time I was using a Testor’s airbrush which did not spray that smooth as I desired. Nowadays I simply prime the whole model black to save time and paint. The whole lower region of the Stug was airbrushed chocolate brown with the attempt of blending it in the olive paint in the area above the fenders. As I wanted to achieve a wet look of the dirt I used oil paints which I layered over the dirt paint.

To add an eye catcher I folded an orange-red air-recognition flag (also built from foil) over some jerry cans on the engine deck . The US stars are hand-painted.

Figures
I used Tamiya's M4A3 commander as loader and Tamiya's M8 Greyhound figure as commander, but I spent them new heads. I also added a GI from Belgo who leans against a wall. The figures were painted with enamels and are nothing to be very proud of.
