So what is still missing? A rack
needs to be made on top of the driver’s cabin. I took this one directly from
the book as well. Here it is still unattached on top of the cabin. The whole
exterior is now nearly done, for what concerns gluing. Now comes the finish.
To make the grey a little more vivid, I sprayed a mist coat of dark earth
over the truck to give it a worn look. It has gotten a wash of Burnt Sienna
and another drybrush with a lighter shade of gray. The larger flat door on
the driver’s cabin received some more drybrushing to create the effect of a
slightly newer door.
Since, as noted earlier, the interior of the truck would be decisive, I took a long time figuring it out. What to put in? How? In the end I just did what my heart told me and buried in the gray cells how my former colleagues at 101 tkbat staff platoon packed it when we went on exercise. I took some items from Italeri’s field tool kit and the scrap box and ‘dryfitter’ them in the rear structure first. This way I would have an example of what it would roughly look like when done.
