Ok I have my kits...

1. Dragon 'Battle of the Bulge' Sherman (nice looking kit with some PE and a contingent of crew and infantry) -worth every penny in my opinion!
2. Tamiya 'Battle of the Bulge' King Tiger (okish kit with no PE and a contingent of winter crew and a motorcycle?) -got it for $20 so I am not complaining!
3. Tamiya 'Battle of the Bulge' M4-A3 Sherman with 105 (okish kit with tank crew and infantry in winter gear) -a little on the expensive side!
4. New tracks for the two Tamiya kits from AFV Club
5. Extra US weapons and small arms
6. All of my diorama materials; including a large picture frame, plaster, styrene sheets, etc.

Should be a fun build. Hope I am not in over my head!

-Mike

Sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe you could do a build log in the forums so that we can all learn from your build?

BTW, where did you get the Dragon Sherman? I have looked online and at my LHS and can't find it. Same with their "Battle of the Bulge KT. Are they discontinued?

I will be looking forward to your finished build!

Since my first idea for an entry in this campaign didn't work out I finally came up with a second idea. I think that this kit will work out just fine.

Now am I ready for October to get here.

I do not think they are. I bought all three at my LHS. The Dragon kit is next gen i believe. It came with PE. The KT kit might be though. It looks old. I will look and see if I can find one for you if you'd like? I believe there is an extra dragon kit there.

Actually, I found them online and at my LHS. I got Dragon's Ardennes KT today 40% off from Hobby Lobby. It will be my first German armor project. Thanks, though!

Hi all,

This picture is in every book I have on the Battle of the Bulge. The Sherman has a whitewash on it, correct? Also, the tracks have snow on the tops of them as if the tank has been sitting there for a while, but how could that be, unless it is part of the outer defense ring around Bastogne? Even then, I don't see any indication of a town. It isn't knocked out, as there are still guys in it.

I don't know what part of the battle it is from.

Thanks.

It's not snow that has fallen on top of the tracks but rather snow that has been squeezed from driving, same as mud would do. The Sherman could have stopped just for a second really.

Here's another example:

Thanks, Jan, that explains it. Great picture, too. Illustrates the whitewash very well.

So has this been accepted as an official campaign? Or is this something were all doing "on the side"??

It is official. It starts on October 1, 2007 and ends on March 31, 2008. Enlistments have already started.
