And you say you just got this in the mail? Well, there is picture proof that AEF Designs can be ok. Now if they would send us some review samples, maybe we can lay down the myth that AEF Designs is a bad company.
Although you have a lot of clean up there, it doesn't look to a bad kit. looking forward to seeing this one in the works and adding it to my photo file of other peoples completed models.

Don't you just love getting a new kit in the mail? Everytime something new shows up, its just like a small Christmas morning. I think that based on looks alone this is one of the best looking vehicles. Good luck cleaning it up, it should be a beaut.

Wow...you received an AEF kit in the
same calendar year that you ordered it?

Good luck with the kit. How is the quality of the barrel? I've heard some of them come so warped from air bubbles that they are unuseable. Oh and what ever happened to the Leopard 2 you were working on?

Well Andrew, the supplied barrel is almost useable, almost. I plan on ordering from MLM their metal barrel anyway. If there was no other choice, than one would have to use it. It is warped, but no bubbles.
And I can neither confirm nor deny any existance of this "Leopard 2",.......
cheers

Good luck with your project Rick....I thought you would be taking a break after your crazy bidding war on eBay for the RoG Leopard 1A5 kit.....lotta $coin$ for that one.....did you know there was a fella selling the same kit in Canada for $20 at the same time the bidding was going on?

Doesn't look like many people want to part with that kit!

I got my LAV III as well. My kit is pretty good, the hull seems straight enough. Couple of broken pieces, but nothing some styrene can't fix. The barrel is junk though. I'm on the search for a metal fluted M242 barrel. Lots of places are sold out though- MLM for one. Guess we ain't the only people starting this kind of project eh

I wasn't sure but does the hull come with a non-slip coating molded on? I imagine there are a ton of people that are going to be following this build. The open duffle bag is neat. So will it be painted a sand colour or dusty green?

Rick
I just emailed Ed at the Barrel Store, perhaps he can get them in for us (I'd like one{fluted} as well).
[email protected] So you're pretty happy about the AEF kit, worth the $50.00?? I have himmmed and haaaaed about the Bison conversion but by all the press I'm certainly shy.

Hey William,
The AEF kit is not a shake and bake by any stretch of the imagination. There's lots of flash clean-up and some missing details (due to the pouring process?) But overall the details are crisp and you get alot of resin for $50.00. The complete upper hull is nice as you don't have to cut and graft resin to plastic.
I will say again it's not for beginners.
And Charles your build is still awe-inspiring
cheers

Well I got the upper hull mostly cleaned up and started the upper and lower hull mating ritual
Decided to glue these two pieces first before adding parts to either hull section to avoid damage.

cheers
