Hi Sebastien,

of course I had the same problems with the Eduard Blast Shields. The ProArt tubes are 2x2 mm while Eduard tubes are 1,4 mm. The real tubes are 2x2" so the Eduard tubes are correct. Please notice that some Strykers are already fielded with the lighter 1x1" Slat Armor. It took me several hours to change the Eduard Blast Shields so they fit with the 2x2 mm Evergreen tubes. My ProArt tubes were just too bend. I will try taking some photos tonight.

Kind regards,
Ralph

Hi Ralph and Seb,
Real slat are 2"x 2" = 1/35 scale 1,45mm x 1,45 mm.
2x2 mm are real slat tube 2,75" x 2,75"
I think that Pro Art tubes is no correct.
I think that is better build Eduard with Eduard or Voyager with Voyager.

thanks Milo
Yes it is the main drawback of Pro Art kit but really 0.55 mm difference I was ok with that, until mouting the blast panels
Thanks for th input.

Good evening Miloslav,

you are right that the ProArt tubes are a little bit too big comparable to the real dimensions. On the other hand even the Voyager and the Eduard kits are not 100% correct when I compare them with the 1000+ photos I took in Iraq in 2005 and the loadplans of the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment from 2008.

I completely agree that mixing different kits with tube dimensions is an issue but nothing you should get grey hairs from. It took me some time to change the openings in the Blast Shields for the larger 2x2mm tubes.

In my opinion the ProArt kit is easier to build because of the long tubes (I used 2x2mm Evergreen profiles) than the small PE segments of the other kits. In the end its the modellers choice but the 0.5mm difference didnt count for me.

There is so much more to add to get a real 2008 Stryker ICV like fire blankets, fire extinguishers, snipers screens, pope glass, etc.

Kind regards
Ralph

Ralph,
I think that only Pro Art have 100% correct rear nets.
Please you can measure the length your Slat for compare with Eduard?
Eduard is length 228 mm.

Dear Sebastien,

up to now I havent attached the Slat Armor to the hull of the Stryker. Of course this makes the construction of the bird cage harder but with this method you will be able to access all parts of the hull for weathering. I had a lot of headache before I found a way to install the necessary attached points on the hull and bring the support tubes to the correct length. I had to add a lot of details to both the hull and the Slat Armor like bolds, NSN data plates, etc. Therefore I havent add the support bars on the rear of the Slat Armor.....

Now I base coated the hull and shaded some areas based on the recommendations from Adam Wilders DVD.

Kind regards,
Ralph

Hello there Sebastien. I recently had the experience of travelling with these big boys but they were without the slats. I haven't built one myself, but I want to sometime in the future and I think you're doing a very impressive job there. Best regards.

Walt
The pic you are showing is the Duke the cable is going underneath the base.
I am talking about the Rhino. I just glue the base in the front slat panel.
Now I am looking for the cabling of this device:

Hi Seb.

Your work is very impressive!!!
And I think you must have had a hard time to make the slat armor.
I'd like to say that "You really did a excellent work."

Thank you for your showing.
