I was at Euro, I was dissapointed for a variety of reasons and won't be back next year. I do sometimes buy MM based on the conetents of each issue. I saw the MM Euro Special and didn't buy it based on comments here and on Ml and due to the fact that I couldn't examine it as it is sold in a plastic sleeve.

I have no opinion on the MIL MOd site as I don't visit it.

Your question on review samples I can answer, though it is off topic.

What do your site do with all the hundreds of review kits you receive on an annual basis. They are certainly not going back to the community ?

Personally I receive review samples from several producers including Resicast, Bravo-6 and MIG. Most of these I forward on to Armorama members who express an interest. The same goes for the other editors who recieve samples. We do have a pool of reviewers and a contributors forum where we advise members of items available for review and we also put calls for new reviewers regularly. After a review is published the reviewer is expected to start a build log in the forums.
What did you think we do with review samples?

So, in fact, you do basicly the same with review samples as MM - the thing Jim is referring to as "brown nosing". ? "Anything for a free kit" ??

If community means brown-nosing in the hope of getting a free kit, perhaps someone needs to look at their definitions more closely.

At least on MM, the offer is out in the open and available for everybody to apply in exchange for a build block of that free kit. Here it is hidden and only availabel for those who are in favour with the editors. That is more Korean style IMHO.

You fail to see the irony ??

That is UTTERLY pathetic. The people who receive the Review samples are people who are qualified to deal with them - i.e. they've got a particular interest/experience in the subject matter. For example, one of the Tankograd books was sent out to someone who deals with the subject area on a daily basis - how better qualified is that?

Also, to prick your balloon of mis-informed rhetoric, I DON'T decide who recieves Review material - that's in the hands of the Review Managers who decide where the material goes. All the areas of the site are the responsibility of different Teams - Reviews, News & Features. My own responsibility is primarily News. So, if you've got an (preferably) informed comment about THAT, i'll be delighted to handle it.

Review material is sent to those who request it - usually as a result of a thread in the Contributor's Forum which is open to all those who have had Reviews or Features published. That includes people who have posted their OWN Reviews of products THEY purchased themselves.

Under the previous set-up, only Manufacturer-supplied reviews were permitted - now ANYONE can submit a Review of ANY product - Supplied by teh site or Purchased by themselves..

Your comments are nothing more than offensive mischief making...

A free kit is a free kit in my book.

The rest is just smokescreen You should remember, every time you point your finger at somebody else - 4 fingers are pointer back at yourself

You just don't get it do you? There isn't a Website or Print magazine that doesn't receive material for Review. That DOESN'T imply any kind of 'Faustian' deal with the devil. You're accusing the many people who receive Review Samples as being somehow 'favored' or bought by the site management. That was before - this is NOW...

You're deliberately creating a smokescreen for whatever 'Agenda' you hold. I reckon most can figure it out...

Hi guys.

Just an observation. Go back the very first post and look what's happened. You guys are now arguing amongst yourselves.

I think it's time for a group hug.

Have a good day.

Cheers

Ok as this has gone off topic again i am locking the tread

If you want to take up the issue of review samples then start another thread in the correct forum

if you want to disscuss the problems with the EM edition of MM then start another thread in another forum

I am sorry if this upsets anybody but tough luck

have a nice day
