I don't know if there is a different name for two types of gun barrels used on the 50 cal., but on most Merkavas I see one type the most it has a fluted gun barrel.

I do see some 50 cals have that barrel handel and some don't as you can see in the photos. It's the same with the commanders MG. Some have the spot light and some don't.

Caveman,
I do not see the "fluted" barrels on the M2s that you are speaking of in the pictures... There is one standard barrel , the "HB" while the flash hider and barrel handles are both "add on" accessories that might or might not be mounted on the MG.

That being said, you have done some amazing work with the Evergreen to make your Dor Dalet. Like the others, I would also like ot see it with some paint.

Look at the ends of the 50s mounted on the mane gun barrel you should see that a two ended brace holding the "fluted" muzzle in place on all the 50 cals in each of the photos. You know what I need is a 50 cal machine gun diogram oop oop just found one the exiting end of the MGs barrel that I called "fluted" is called the Cone and Flash Header.
Here's that dio: http://www.marstar.ca/images/Automatics/M2HB/c-diagram.gif

As for the paint I'm working my way up to that now!

What a great project. The attention to detail is great and you do some really nice scratchbuilding. You will have a very unique Merkava III.

Looking forward to see more

Here you can see the "Eduard" PE fire extinguisher mounts. Now I cliped the rear part and replaced it with thin brass wire.

Here a Black and White photo of the real thing and then my work.

An to those of you that have noticed the error on this side of the turret I do to, but I'm to deep in to this project to rebuild the armor plate and remove the rifle mount.

I have more sick detailed work to go yet. The color I'm going with is a faded olive/gray color.

I have started work on the protective cage for the top mounted or internal mortar launcher.

here I go the next to the last part I'm adding and I have it built. It realy looks a bit ruff now but with a little rust here and there, I think I can make it look right.

Thanks M8 (newfish) here's a photo of the real cage:

One othere thing I'm going to add a small peace of tubbing to the top of the internal mortar, so that it will look the part a bit better.

Now the last item I have to build, will be the (EWRS)- Early Warning Response System or you can call it the (ATMDS) - Anti Tank Missile Defense System or radar pod.

An then the paint job begins.......
