Thomas thank you!!!!

Paul....you're right about the dust but it's still a wip.I work on little area to have a better control of the weathering process,so,up to now,I've weathered the two engine hatches...later I'll weather the surrounding areas...
You can see that the turret has no dust....only some washes...
It will be a long weathering process...
Thanks however for comments....much appreciate :-)

Regards
Ciro

That makes a lot of sense.Lately I've seen a lot of great italian models.

Hi all...and thanks again to all of you for support during this challenge...this will be my 2nd t-55 and I hope that the future tanks will be better...I've learned a lot of things, not only about the various corrections that the tamiya kit needs but also,,,,how to realize them...

Chris....You're right about the large hub of the first roadwheel...but I don't know hot to realize it,sure I'll need to correct this point.
For the Coax Mg I don't know...I haven't many photos in which this is visible, maybe removed....so I'll do the same.

Now the tank is an advance state of weathering....I need to set and correct some point and to add some things,to paint little items here and there and to add the tracks(friul)

I need to be honest....I'm relatively satisfied with this 55....probably the subject..(camo and weathering) goes beyond my skills....but if I don't try to get a result I'll never learn anything,so,please...if you have critics write me how you can improve or change the thing and I'll keep it in my for the next task!!
Regards
Ciro Riccio

Hi Ciro,

This is looking really nice -- I like the camo and the weathering.

Looking forward to seeing it with the tracks on!

Cheers,

This is simply amazing! Love the camo and the start of your weathering! Keep it coming.

Wish I would find some time to model myself

Very cool!

One question though, the turret is not able to turn because it wil hit the oil drum on the left fender.

Otherwise, well done!

Ciro-
you absolutely nailed the dust effect. I can still see the camo but it is subdued. It looks great.

A pleasure watching this one come together.

Jurien....you're right,turret doesn't turn....
but I think it's still possible to depict a model in this way.....

don't you think?!?!?!

thanks for comments guys....I've added tracks(friul) now weathering again on these now...see you at the next update....

Hi all,it's me again....I've complete the baby....ok I know that there are some inaccurancies but it's my 2nd 55 and I need to improve my skill in scratchbuild to realize the other corrections.Anyway I've learned various things about painting and weathering that was realized using tap water and tamiya buff.Yes,it takes a lot of time but I think the result is not so bad.Thank you for comments and for your critics....When I'll be able to paint some good figures I'll add one on the turret...
Regards
Ciro Riccio

OK Ciro-
my honest critique. Please take this as constructive - I am going by the photos alone.
...and these are my opinions. If this were my tank I would be as proud as you are!

The gun tube should be weathered like the tank- but leave a clean section close to the mantlet where the crew members flip their arms over it as they climb on and off. In these pictures the gun barrel looks like it hasn't been weathered at all.

I would do one more layer of dust on the lower half of the glacis.

The barrel and stowage- I like just as they are. If you did the same on a modern Russian vehicle or something from NATO I would agree with Jurjen 100%, but the Afghan military is more of an irregular force. The non-standard stowage- on this veteran Afghan vehicle- right on IMHO.

Photo Feature? ABSOLUTELY Man!

I might not have noticed the barrel until it was mentioned but that is one heck of a good looking tank. 2 thumbs up.

Steve!!
Thank you!correct observation....so it's not finished yet...I must admit that I haven't note that(gun barrel) but I can fix the thing like the lower half of glacis.
I'm still thinking to add some markings but I need to be honest...arab scipts are difficult to reproduce,I can add old number ID but I'm not sure.
Guys....if you think that my baby is good for photo feature I can fix errors and add markings.Let me know!

Marc....
Thank you!!

Ciao Ciro, how are you? Really good job for your T55: I'm waiting to listen to the engine roarrr.
Try this link

http://www.archertransfers.com/MIDEASTAFV.html

Transfers from the Archer range. They speak about "wall slogan", but I think they good for your tank, too.
All the best.

Ciro,
Have you ever tried making your own decals? I have done some and was fairly happy with the reults. Testors makes a kit (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXESK4) which includes a rattle can of sealant and a clear and a white decal sheet. They can be printed on any inkjet computer printer. You can download foriegn fonts from the internet or copy and paste from a photo and use either in MS Word or another word processing program.
Just a thought.

BTW--your weathering and rust are fantastic! The whole vehicle is coming along great.

To borrow the old saying: "If it isn't broken, why fix it?"

This is a FANTASTIC T-55, and I think it looks great as is.
