Here is my story line for my model. I have a partially built Ferdinand that I got on ebay for some spare parts that will be the base for my build.
It is 1945, the new Fuhrer, Erwin Rommel, the western front is quiet with the new peace agreement with GB and the US. All equipment is focusing on the Soviets who did not join on the peace accord. The front is pushed back into the open Steppes and previously lost equipment is being recovered and refit.
The new Konig Ferdinand is a rebuilt Ferdinand. New suspension, up graded gun to handle even the IS-4's and improved armor. This time these units will be used to their best ability, picking off tanks at long ranges in the open landscape, instead of leading the frontal charge into tank traps, hidden AT guns, ATsquads of infantry, and minefields.
The rebuilt KF's will be accompanied by the new Panther based APCs, which sport Gatling gun-type AA guns for unit based air protection or 20mm turrets for the troop transports along with their AT guided missles. Unit commanders will be carried in their command tracks, linked to their units and superiors via a radio network.
"Horses will stay on the parade grounds and not in combat!" the new leader has said. So, a fully mechanized German army strikes back at the Red Horde.
Basicly I'll be hacking up a couple of old models and see how they work together. If I like the concept I'll use this model to plan a kit from the box next time and see what comes up.

I am going to take a crack at a German sound weapon, this was being investigated by the Germans but never put onto the battlefield.

"I've been working on the concepts of these two projects for several years now, I guess now is the time to complete them; a Bradley M-2 that I'm replacing the turret with a .50 cal/Mk-19 turret, the idea here is to make room to get the Rifle Squad back up to no less than 9"
I've been thinking about something like that. Gino had an interesting suggestion of combining a M2 with a set up like an M113 ACAV.
I'm thinking about a bradley M2A2 ambulance. I'd have to get rid of the turret, but I'm considering throwing a bunch of gear on top to cover up where the turret was. Any other ideas?

I may have to shelve my earlier ideas until later because they're just too expensive and complicated. I've had another idea though. A while back I saw an M60-M1 hybrid called an M60-2000, where an M60 hull and an Abrams turret were put together.
There is a little Revell 1:72 scale M60 at the local hobby store, as well as about a hundred Abrams kits of the same scale.
Any comments on this idea?

Alright, I signed up for my first campaign. First a question - I have to wait until the campaign starts before building?
The plan I have is to take the thoroughly crappy Revell Unimog and turn it into a technical / gun truck for Dutch Resistance. It would have been secretly built at the Daf Trucks factory in Eindhoven by the military and Paris/Dakar specialists still working there after the Soviets took over the plant and turned parts of it into a scrapyard for captured or damaged vehicles. It is inspired on the Gun Trucks of Vietnam and may have fancy graphics on the sides - but with an '80s, not a '60s feel. Right now I am thinking of theming it "Two Tribes" after the Frankie Goes To Hollywood song (YouTube).
Sounds like a plan, right?

Ok, since I've been a big what if fan for a while now, my ideas:
E-25 Kügelblitz
Panther F with IR (nothing that special, but I love this model)
E-100 (the 'real one' with Maus II turret)
E-100 conversion: still thinking about what I'm going to do exactly, a special Flak-version or a version with Rheinbote or similar missiles.
Sounds ambitious and if you know how little time I have it's fairly impossible to get them all done, but nobody can prevent me from dreaming, planning (and buying stuff)

Fair dinkum, as they say down there. I've looked at your idea, and I think the marriage of M60 and M1 should work perfectly, see here and here. The turret ring is exactly the same size.
But after creating that thing, don't come telling me what is ugly!

Thanks for that Rob. Hopefully the kit manufacturers have accounted for the identical ring diameter.
And to be perfectly honest, Unimogs are some of the ugliest trucks in the world. But i never said I didnt like them . And besides, have you ever seen a tank do this?

Looks like the max load is 134 Tuareg tribesmen - each with bedroll, suitcase and two 25 kg bags of rice - plus about 50 medium size cardboard boxes and 7 goats.
All in a day's work. At least it confirms my suspicion that a Unimog can carry an armoured steel cargo nhold with crew, weapons and ammo with no problem whatsoever.
Now to find 134 Tuareg figs... ;-)

That would be the coolest build ever!! You'd have to display it with the picture right next to it or no one would actually believe that the truck could drive like that.
Hey, I'm moving in August, anyone know where I can find a couple of these guys to load all of my household goods into and on my Nissan Sentra?

You have obviously never seen the trucks that take supplies out to the outer islands here in Orkney. they get loaded with every thing you could imagine we have one that comes to collect the milk for one of the islands and one day besides all the usual bags of potatoes and kitchen sinks they had a car in the truck Its always a laugh to guess what they have loaded up that day.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where can you find more pics of unimogs loaded up like that? I tried googling "unimog" and just came back with the standard truck.

My first campaign. Count me in. How about this for an idea. A U.S. built Panther F for the new allied armored forces against the Russians. I will have a better back story later.

Ted,
US Built Panther F is a neat concept. War is over, German Engineers are in Detroit being debriefed. Friction between the occupying forces ignites.
Take the Panther F and a Pershing- shake it up and see what evolves.

Cool, I've just enlisted. I think I will go with a Sherman variant. Something along the lines of the US having to redesign it because the war has dragged on too long after a stalemate in western Europe after D-Day.
I 'm thinking it will be armed with the 90mm from the M36 and possibly some extra turret fittings like a searchlight, 50.cal with shield. What do you think?
