Count me in on this one! I'd like to see some 3-in-1 kits like the old AMT model cars. Build it stock, or service, or military.

Add my name to the petition.

I'd like to see a British Army lightweight version. I drove these and standard versions on Salisbury Plain as gun towers for the old 105mm PakHow.

I'm surprised there have been no calls for the US version used by the Rangers.
Oh, and please mention/link this thread to help increase the number of supporters.

A Landrover in plastic is long overdue. Definitely a re-tooled Pink Panther, as well as a regular Army 110 from the seventies.

I'd rather see the manufacturers concentrate on versions that haven't been done - while the Tamiya P/P and ambulance have been around a few years, they are still pretty good models. OTOH the Italeri/Revell/Testors Series 3 really should be updated.

Is anyone aware that for a model of a Landrover, any company would almost certainly have to sign a royalties agreement with the company?

Accurate Armour have a similar agreement. So...

Landrover,,,,,,,BMW,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Ford or whoever has their fingers in the preverbial pie these days should be thinking about the cuidoss and privildge to have there vehicles copied and seen in minature all over the world in their civie and military guises.

FREE ADVERTISING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on Landrover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember there is a credit crunch. Forego the royalties.

If you say so. Perhaps those that own a copyright (and their lawyers) may say differently...

Sad, but, true. The Model Railroad companies went to court and fought long and hard against Union Pacific....only to lose and have to charge modelers the costs regarding copywrite and Logo registration.

There will be no cheap LR kit. Peteition for the model, yes, but, save your pennies at the same time, because, it'll cost ya!

I'll add my name, it would be nice to have some plastic landys, cheaper and slightly 'easier' (no fiddly springs) to construct than Accurate Armours ones! As for variants, any and all, love to see a snatch!

Concerning the royalties issue... what about what Tamiya did with their 1/48 jeep and calling it "1/4 ton utility truck"? Would that solve the problem.. or is this different?

This leads me to think how Revell managed to do it with their Mercedes Wolf kit AND keep the cost under £15.00 here in the UK - Score one for Revell and Mercedes !!!

Charge us for royalties, another rip off Britain, Although Land rovers owners might need the funds at the moment .

I've heard of the copyright issue before but if different manufacturers (such as mercedes) have give the Ok, why can't Land Rover? This is something the model companies would need to arrange obviously, and if we can use this thread to create enough interest, then maybe someone from Tamiya/Trumpeter etc may give the marketing dept. at Land Rover a call and try to come to some arrangement. I already guessed it would lead a more expensive model - that's why I'd be prepared to go to 20 pounds (GB) even though I think 15 would be a fairer price.
