Like most of us here I would love to see a Landy (defender) in plastic. There have been counless mentions of it in various wish lists but as they are spread across the various threads, it's doubtful that their collective voice is being fully heard. So here is a new thread with the sole aim of trying to get as many modellers out there to put themselves forward and show the plastic model companies that there is a market ready and waiting for them.
My personal preference is for a British WMIK and would be willing to spend around 20 pounds (UK). Ideally the model would come with a number of parts to create a number of variants and a crew.
So please add your name, your prefered variant and what you believe would be an acceptable price. Who knows, maybe somebody will finally be able to turn the plastic Landy into a reality.

I do too. Here here!
I've done the Pink Panther. (Not as a PP, but, I built the kit)
I have the Land Rover 7 Ambulance, which, being half-built and put away, will not be an actual Ambulance either.
I looked high and low for another, different LR, but, only found high-end/cost resin kits, which, I can't justify the expense of.
So, yeah, lead me to the petition. I'll sign.

I'll add my voice to the call for for a 1/35 Land Rover in plastic. Revell's Wolf, AFV Club's M38 and WC-51, and Trumpeter's BJ212 all sell for around $20, so the Land Rover should be about the same price - after all, we're not talking about a giant tank or howitzer here. Five tires would be nice - it's always good to have a spare for your vehicle. As far as the version goes, I would most like to see an Australian one from Vietnam, and a contemporary British one from Afghanistan. But I would be very happy to see any 1/35 plastic Land Rover, any variant, hit the store shelves someday.

We definitely have to get out of this German rut with the new kit releases and I can't think of a better subject like the Land Rover series. I could see even doing a Safari dio to break out of the military thing. And 4or5 "sitters" would go a long way. It bugs me to have these 1/2 tracks, jeeps and 3 axel vehicles riderless !

I`M IN,
Not fussy about variants, the more the merrier !.
As to price, anywhere in the £15.00 to £20.00 range is what i consider to be fair (dependent on what variant).

I most definitely support this request... as I've said in many other threads.
I would go for any variant.. from the old classic Lan Rover.. to the new special forces vehicles in Afghanistan
Hopefully some versions with left hand steering which could be used as Somali, PLO or any of the factions in the Lebanese civil war vehicles.
As for price.. I think up to $30-35 would be fine.
I hope Trumpeter or HobbyBoss listen and give us at least one!

I definately support this one. I've built one full resin Accurate Armour W.M.I.K, loved it and want to do more versions but price is an issue.
So an Injection Moulded plastic version would be a god send.
count me in

Although I totally understand your wish for a plastic Landy, I cannot in good conscience support you....
I have a couple of the AA resin ones and would pull my hair out seeing a plastic one.

I'd like to see any modern Land Rover in plastic definetly as well as many other Brit vehicles of all eras. Also any modern cars in 1/35th scale and trucks too.
Look forward to where this leads,
Kenny.

Hi there
For my two pence worth why can't we have a race from all the various plastic companies (AIRFIX at the lead) to bring in the first serious collection of 1/72 and 1/35 Land rover varients from series 1, 2, 3 (re-releases if need be) through the county and defenders to the current variants military and civy options short wheel base and long base and multi axle for use by ALL the countries and ALL military and civil agencies to allow diorama options of peace time and war time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even to get a few of each and let the after market spares take over and scratch build options sort out the rest of the variations.

A Landrover in plastic is long overdue. Definitely a re-tooled Pink Panther, as well as a regular Army 110 from the seventies. And if we want to get exotic:
-Australian 6x6 Perentie
-IFOR Range Rover
-Centaur Halftrack
-Chilean Morottab Lightweight
-Turkish Otokar Akrep or APC
-Series III Tempo
-Series II or III Lightweight
-British Army riot control version

Yep, seconded. There might be a licensing problem though. Maybe we ought to petition the good people in Solihull?

I do remember reading that licensing was an issue - though there have been landy's produced before so I've no idea what the problem is.
The concensus at present seems to be for either/or Brit and Aussie versions. Can anyone tell me what the differences are? ( Specifically could a company produce one basic model and allow for either variant to be built? I'm not comfortable with resin so the after market option doesn't appeal to me.)
It will take many more contributions before we can contact the various companies to show that the market exists and producing a Landy is good business sense.
Thanks for the input so far.

I'm happy to put my name to this petition.
As for my variants I would like to see the series 3 as used by the Anzacs in Vietnam and also a 'Snatch' version as used in Iraq and Afganistan by the Brits.
As for price around the £15 mark would be about right I think considering other kits of a similar size such as the HobbyBoss V100 are about this price.
Cheers
David

IIRC Italeri had several Land Rover kits out in 1/35 (military) and 1/24 (civilian) at various times, some under the Testors label. So the molds do exist.

The testors 35th were old Italeri molds of two variants both based on the Series III 109 chassis.
In 35th plastic Tamiya did :
Ambulance Series 2
Pink Panther Series 2
Italeri offered:
LR 109 Series III Soft top but from memory in Left hand Drive
LR 109 Pink Panther on the Series III body with Road tyres
Revell:
A rebox of the Italeri softop.
What I would like to see are
A good basic 110
An Aussie 110 4X4 Regional Force Surveillance vehicle with WMIK (as pictured above). These are now used by the SASR and SF but were originally designed for the Regional Force Surveillance Forces across the North of Australia. (ID feature is the solid rim wheel
A Brit WMIK
A Brit Snatch
A 6X6 would be nice particularly with Workshop module
Any MODERN Landrover would be great
