As you have probably gathered from Mr Crowthers' obvious enthusiasm , I will be taking this model as WIP to the Shropshire Model Show at RAF Cosford tomorrow. I will be on the Vietnam SIG stand in hangar 3 if anyone would like to come along and say hello.
(I know it aint German but we don't all follow the herd )

Not much visible progress at the moment, practicing some weathering techniques on my "test" m48 model just to try and get it right before I commit to this model. It's not going too well May post some photos if it improves.
Helmets are painted with Humbrol enamels (I prefer to use humbrols for cammo parts as it dries dead flat and I like the look of it).
Base coat is a mixture of 78(50%)+95(30%)+72(10%)+24(10%) to give a khaki/lime green base colour (This will look completely wrong until you get the other colours on it). The "Mitchell" leaf pattern is painted using two greens (86 and 75) and brown (110) with some branches picked out in dark brown (170). A vein is painted on each leaf using the alternative green to the base leaf. Highlighting/ drybrushing is done with Vallejo Deck Tan and Shadows are done with 889 Olive Drab.
An image of the pattern is here:
M16's are painted with Humbrol metalcote polished steel and buffed to a shine. Shadow is added with a very thin wash of vallejo black and the magazine (which is usually a brighter metal) is gently dry brushed with some silver. Black plastic parts are painted with Vallejo black and rubbed with a cotton bud (q-tip) to impart a slight sheen.
Hope this helps. I'll post some more photos when I get a few more figures done (Still waiting for some new Hornet heads).

James the AFV Club tracks are really for the Italeri M47 - you can use them on the Tamiya M48, but they are considerably narrower than the kit tracks so adjustments will have to made to the Drive sprockets and wheels.
Chris the tracks fit fine! where did you get that from?
Andy thanks for that

I'm currently building a Academy one, and on that kit the driverssprocket must be glued a little bit wider then the basic idea.

It's the M48A5K R.O.K. army kit. It's also possible to build and U.S. version with this kit.
I guess we're talking about the same kit?
