Scratch build cable. Made from USS Constellation rigging.

UPDATE: Had to add second coat to body, still not happy with the way it turned out.
Painted the cable also, that turned out O.K. I guess.

Nice to see one of these CMP's being built. Takes me back. I had a look through a few books some years back trying to find out any differences between the Ford and GM trucks. Aside from the logo on the grill the basic chassis were the same as already discussed. Any differences were due to the engines types. Ford used the flat head V-8, GM the inline 6. I did go through my books again to try and refresh my thoughts. I noticed that on the Ford #12 and 13's there is what looks like a horn mounted just behind the front bumper on the left side. This is not on the GM trucks.

And don't forget. That raised projection on the front bumper is the holder for a hand crank and should be drilled out.

I look forward to seeing your finished truck. I have always liked the CMP's.

Well, I had to abandon the MM camo for now. The templates I made didn't work out. Tried another test patch with different templates, same results. CRAP.......

Anyways, did some touch up and interior paint on the Quad.

C'mon Brian.....wanna see your paint scheme!

Disruptive camo anyone?? Or should I say Air compressor anyone? That's the only way the MM camo is going on. 3x5 index cards didn't work, bled thru, Sheet plastic didn't work either.

I am certain I read that MM was brush applied in the field and that along with the MM pattern the under carriage and all the running gear was painted black. I'm thinking I read that on the MAFVA site. I was also under the inpression that the MM camo was used in conjunction with the green base paint and was used only in the European theater. I was originally wanting to use the MM pattern with my desert version but found this out and abandoned the plan to paint the MM camo for the 8th Army in Africa. I also think that I read that the MM camo wasn't adopted until after the 8th was no longer in Africa. I'll hunt down where I found this and post back.

EDIT ADDITION: The info has been updated since I last read it, but here's the MAFVA link. Note the mention of MM in Europe.

the following colors:

Light Stone 61 also labeled as Light Stone
Terracotta
Slate Grey
Light Grey/Silver Grey
Portland Stone 64 also labeled as Portland Stone
Desert Pink

The color and the MM camo has been debated ever since this build has started. I've found varing photo's of the MM camo being applied mainly in fractory and some in field. I ran acrossed one camo pattern with gray/white/dark blue!!
The research on the MM camo has been very interersting to say the least. I've found that the MM camo was still been used in N. Africa up until the German surrender in Dec. '43. Some units kept it till war's end. One site says this and other site says that, and it just became one contridiction after other.
If you can dig up more stuff that would be great. Thx.

Yes, it almost rivals some of the German AFV paint schemes in both contradictions and hearsay! I'm on the hunt as we speak!

Hey Brian, the quad is coming along nicely. It really looks great. I am new to any kind of military modeling and i know this sounds like a stupid question, but what time frame in history is this kit from and witch country used it? Also who makes the kit and what is the part #? Thanks and keep up the good work...............Mike

First off, Welcome!

Second, Its' the Tamiya WWII Quad Gun Tractor Kit #35045, British Commonwealth Forces Quad Gun Tractor, Canadian Ford, F.G.T. This is a older kit that came out sometime in the late 70's, early 80's. A few years back Tamiya offered it with the 25pdr. Field Gun as a "Combo" kit also. Early 90's IIRC. I did a review for this kit and the 25pdr. kit. They pop up from time to time on the Homepage.

No problem. There are some aftermarket's for the Quad that you can get. This build was Out of the Box, nothing fancy.

After a stepping away from the Quad after two failed attemps on the MM to clear the mind, and a lesson from TacFireGuru today, (Thx again, Mike. ) I'm going to tackle the MM again.
