Pat: As promised, here is my next update.





Although I recently started two other kits, this is really my first ever build. I'm not too worried about bringing this up to the awesome standards many of you guys are displaying here. I just want it to turn out nice

I like the idea about an all Miniart Church campaign, the kit looks very impressive and well suited for some awesome dioramas

I'm sorry to inform you that I have to quit this campaign.
My daughter was born last week and there is no chance to move even a one step forward .
I have the figures built and primed, but it's all I could do.

Interesting to see how everyones progressing here, I bet the extra month extension will be a blessing to many!!
Anyway, here's my final contribution using 'Miniarts' diorama with ruined house # 36012. It's based in Stalingrad during the summer of '42. The basic 'story' being the Russians have a sniper in an opposing building across the street, & are picking the enemy off as they venture round the corner.
As well as the building, the figures are from 'Masterbox' German Signals Personnel, the anti tank gun is Tamiya's 75mm. Hope you like, as always once a dio is finally finished there's always 101 things to to differently next time, so all comments more than welcome...

Really nice work Simon !
The composition is really good, and do tella story in a limited space.
The posters composition is really interesting, the building is really nicely done.
The guy shot has a nice movement.. The curtain is a really nie addition. It soften the small details that create reality and interest?
Just some critics ; the eyes of yoiur figure are too wide? it's better to have just a black line rather than wide white open eyes.
The second concerns the guns. It shouldn't have been broke this way if it would have been hit. You should have the left side bend, smashed etc..
Apart from that, you achiveed a realluy nice piece of work
ps: for the cobblestone, what did you used ? The miniart one provide in the kit ?

good to see everyone´s terrific progress. Yes, I am very happy about the extension- this summer I had a lot of work to do, now a bit of time off for the moment and am back happy to modeling.

I do have a couple of updates, and now that we have that extension, I will take my time to finish- not try to do it in a weekend. lol.

ok here we go. I am using Vallejo Water Effects for my ´cesspool´- as far as the figures and vehicles go, I am going to keep it real simple.













That is it for now. I admit these are not the most recent updates, but thanks for looking. I will have more to follow.

Billy: I'm really liking your diorama as well, it is particularly eye catching from the back as displayed in the fourth photo from the top.

Budapest 1945!

These dioramas are looking great! We need another campaign like this next year.

I'm going to be on a two week hiatus for family reasons. I'll be out of state and on the road most of this time. Will work double time when I return, I'm not giving up on my entry, not by a long shot!

Have started to weather the building & build the base.
I'm using a large picture frame for the board. I've used some old Verlinden printed cobbles as the roadway. I've also started to build up the rubble piles. Weather of the roof tiles & the brick walls have been done, I've also gloss varnished the window/door frames & the Guttering & balcony rails.
I've added a load of pic's to my photobucket site.
Looks like I might just get this finished.
Well Done to everybody that's finished, there some great builds.

Well done everyone. Glad I got the extension now I was in agony last week before AND after I went to the dentist and didn't get any work done. back on track now. Remember 3 photos for the gallery to qualify for your ribbon.



I'm up for that- how about we broaden it out to scratchbuilt and ceramic kits too but still concentrate on Urban Dioramas?

great idea Pat (shame about the dentist visit, hate that business). the Miniart campaign gave people a lot of tips on how to assemble and finish these kits but a broader campaign that also gave tips on scratchbuilding techniques could be a nice complimentary operation to this one. it would have to be urban so that there is at least one architectural item in the diorama.

This was a great campaign and I learned a lot here actually built 3 other Mini-Art kits while I was laid up. Still have 2 more left in the stash. I like the idea of another campaign but with all the other campaigns starting soon can you make the time frame for the later part of 2011 and can we use vehicles/figures from other campaigns

I agree with Sal's thought, that would be very helpful.

I'm out of state for a couple of weeks working on some family related issues. I'll let you all know when I'm back at the workbench so that you guys can keep me honest in finishing my build for this campaign. Will be burning the late night oil for this

Well I'm running a little behind, but I got a good start on my entry today. All of the tips everybody has talked about made the taking the building apart very easy. I have one question what do you do to support the center of the base? It seems like it has a lot of flex to it. Here is the start of my entry.


Tommorrow I will do the assembly of the building.

hi Thomas, i used the scrap plastic from the trimming of the vacuum forms to make "brace shims" for my walls. i too found that the plastic had lots of flex so i put a few strips inside when gluing two halves together. it helped to keep them from bending inward while the were clamped for the glue to dry. i;m sure the same thing would work for the base kind of like floor joists. cheers, mh
