Hi Guys,
Lots of great work here and I have learned so much just by reading this tread. A month ago my troops would have been painted with Testors Enamels on the spruces then glued together all in the same day with no putty, primer, sanding or mixing colors.
So I have a lot of first here:
First real campaign, using a primer, use of acrylic paint, painting parts assembled, taking my time or photos and doing winter uniforms.
These guys are OOB Dragon German Panzer Grenadiers, 1/35 scale, that I started on March 17. Just finished them up this morning. First time using Dragon products too. I used some techniques that some of you guys mentioned, some worked some didn’t. Like, Ron you said you used wet printer paper for the slings. I tried that and screwed it all up. Another guy said that he uses aluminum foil, but I can’t figure out what type of paint will adhere to that . Well anyway, I and learning and it was a lot of fun. I have started on another set of Tamyia German Assault troops. Any help, comments, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I started modeling again do to a leg injury, I am out sick from work and need to occupy my time while sitting down. I think i up loaded the photos but I cant find them?

Here are a few shots of four of my tank crewmen at their destination.
I hope to eventually put the tank in a diorama showing the 4th Armored Division on its drive towards Czechoslovakia in late April-early May 1945, but that's a ways off in the future. I hope to have the other tank crewman and the infantry squad in their diorama in a month or so if things go as planned. I'll post some pics of it when I'm done.

Ok thanks to Pat I was able to figure out how to put the pictures on the tread. Hear are my dragons
and the backs
and wandering through the snow on a Russian street near a abandoned BA-10 Armored Car
I know the pictures are small but I had to compress them to web page size to get them to upload in the gallery

howdy.
I wanted to try my hand at painting a figure or two so I jumped on the wagon. I am kinda doing this one hand in hand with the MP campaign.
I'm doing tamiya's German Field Military Police set which is a base with an MP, dispatch rider and wall's with a gate.
progress to date is very smooth. I finished up the MP figure, but lost my in progress pics. (my fault I deleted them by accident)
The following is a good pic I took of the MP, Its not the greatest but its my best effort.
I used Model Master enamals to paint this, except for the white which is Humbrol enamal. The uniform is various light and darker shades of MM 2097 Panzer Olivgrun 1943. I used Yellow and Blue paints to lighten and darken them. And the flesh tones are a mixture of MM skin tones mixed untill I had a color I liked. I used a dark wash and drybrushing to achieve the best look I could for the face.
all in all this was a learning experience for me.....

Nice Sherman, Ed and the figures look good, too. Shouldn't the right front guy sit deeper in the tank, touching it at the elbows?
You got the hang of posting pictures, Salvatore. Diorama looks good, but I don't know if the BA was used that late in the war, judging by the german uniforms. These are far to white by the way. Try some staining on the knees, elbows, arounbd the ankles and on the front of the upper legs. Some washes with greys will tone the white down too and add shadows at the same time.
Delbert, I don't see any pictures. Maybe try Photobucket or Imageshack?
Here's the final figurepicture of my diorama. This one is done... finally!

Hey Ron! Thanks for the comments. The figure in the co-driver's position was originally intended to stand lower in a hatch, but I decided to show him standing in his hatch. I've seen several pictures showing crewmen assuming that posture, especially in shots taken late in the war. I probably should have angled his arms down more from the elbows, but otherwise I like how he fits.

Ron,
Thanks for the comments and suggestion. Im still learning and working on the washes and weathering thing. Some of the bright white is from the flash, Im still learning there too But they do have some tint to them, some grays would have been better. I used flat white enamel and I think I would have been better off with an acrylic. By the way your train looks great. Thanks again,
Sal

Some fantastic painting going on in this campaign. Very impressed by the high quality! Not sure I can live up to that level, but I will try.
It is time I enter this campaign - a little late, but better late than never
I will be making a SS panzer crew for a Pz. IV. It is the Tristar set. Very nice figures, but not with the usual crisp details one would expect from Tristar. That said still very nice quality compared to Dragon or Tamiya.
It will be a test of my camouflage painting skills.
More to follow soon.

I started my SdKfz Maintenance Crew with a base coat of ultra flat khaki by Rustoleum. I have a SdKfz 222 to fit the crew and decided to do it in desert pink camo. Therefore, I added a mixture of Polly Scale's German RLM Light Olive 10:1 part black on the trousers. To highlight the trousers I used Testor's Pale Green. For the shading on the khaki, I am using watercolors. The boots are Testor's Leather. The gloves are a mixture of Tamiya's Brown and a red brown wash. More detailed pictures to come.

Jesper, welcome aboard! It is not too late untill june 1st. Haven't seen you in a while. Hope everything's ok!
Matt; I know this set and I think you might have a slight problem. The kneeling mechanic has a summer uniform, where as the others have cold weather clothing. Neither has desert clothing, so I think a desert setting wouldn't work.
Why not opt for a colder setting? A 222 in dark grey with a whitewash would be perfect for the mechanics in winterclothing.
Anyway, keep us posted!
Thomas; Great little scene you have there. Too bad there aren't any WIP-pictures to go with them, because painting Asians is a bit more of a challenge to most of us.

Hi Thomas,
Nice work on the close combat scene, you got the figures positioned well and the scene works for me. Showing fighing troops realistically is a hard thig to do but I thing you pulled it off well here. SOme sharpe pics would be good.
Ed,
Nice crew for the Dozer, which looks cool too.

Hi Jessie,
Very nice work on the troops, they look great.
Here's a couple I did for the Over the Top WW1 campaign on the figure forum. I imgine they could fit here too.
I have a couple more for the campaign drying in the kitchen?

Very nice work, Jessie. I especially like the work you did on the uniform camouflage.
Thanks for the welcome, Ron. I have been very busy lately with real life, but still finding a little bit of time for painting from time to time.

Hi Guys,
I take it you didn't like the WW1 troops!! I was thinking these could also be used in the early war years 39/40.
Anyway 2 others I'm currently working on
The Alpha Image Inc British Soldier WW2 who I'll make as my 3 Indian soldier to go with the other 2 and the Wee Friends British Sailor in BD who is the 'father' of the British Officer I did above.

Hi Alan,
How is it going? Great progress as usual. Actually I like the WWI troops. I wish there were more options in this area for the casual modeler.
How many figures do you think you can submit for this campaign? What about your large scale Market Garden dio? Did that ever come to fructation?
hope all is well for you
Billy

Hi Jessie,
Thanks, I thought everyone had gone home lol, lol.
Hi Billy,
Don't know, depensd on what get's build in time. The Market Garden dio is alive and well thanks, there is no sign yet of the Horsa so I don't want to actually start on the layout until that comes along, as it or part of it will determine the final setting for things. Still working on some paratroops, and the Welbikes which I've been idle in getting finished, so there are about 5 more paras plus the bikes to do, plus maybe a civilian or two, but I've seen some good one by MK 35 and they do have some cows too .
Cheers

Well I'm in. It's a late start but I have found myself between campaigns and bored to death.
I have quite a few figures just sitting around collecting dust waiting to be built. I have a small vignette in mind but I have to wait until I get home to make sure I have the stuff for the scene I have in mind before I say what I plan on building.
Anyway, this should help feed that campaign addiction of mine!!

Hi Guys,
Here is the latest progress:
Wee Friends Sailor
I used Vallejo Dark Sea Blue for the uniform and Off White for the jumper.
This one is the Alpha Image Inc figure, I used a DML head, and Ultracast SMLE and No 1 Bayonet.
Greatcoat is Vallejo English Uniform, Tamiya buff for the trousers and Webbing and Life colour Flesh Set for the skin tones on both.

Here is what I plan on building for this campaign.
I have had this set for several years and I have dipped into in the past for different bits and pieces. So I figured it was time to do something with it. It isn't the highest quality set of figures but I will do what I can with them. I plan on making a simple vignette with two of the figures and the Goliath.
