Question: Is there any way to make these rubber tires look like theyre sagging? Although the tires are great I would really like a weighted feel to them.

you could put miliput inside and weigh the whole down a bit until the putty is dry.

Sorry for the delay, the holidays take alot out of you. Especially when youre spending them with your own family and then with your girlfriend's. Makes for a very hectic few days.
I decided to clean and reorganize my desk and it made a world of a difference but I found this little thingy from my past under a bunch of things. Makes me happy I got back to modeling.
Also, a bunch of "In Progress works"
Meanwhile, I was kind of waiting on my figures from Helo and the Jumbo Voyager set. The .50 cal looks sweet but I will have to modify the mount to make it accurate.
I also primed each one of my figures minus one. All will be receiving ACU
Lastly, on to the MGS. I am so close to finishing the mine protection plate. All thats needed are access hatches and bolts and washers. I ordered MiG Production Hex Bolts and I can punch out washers with the Waldron Punch and Die Set. Tomorrow this will be finished besides bolts and I can finally move on to the actual upper hull where the real fun will begin with all of this PE brass.
Also, the drawings for the diorama will be posted in the next few days so until then!
Thanks for looking. All the comments are really inspiring and it makes this build so much easier with the support. If this 21 year old American could buy everyone a beer I would but if I can get to AMPS I could make that happen. Thanks again everyone!

Nice work. It's a great inspiration for me. I started also with a Stryker, would like to build a M1127 Recon Vehicle (AFV + Real Model Conversion)
Sean, what do you use to mask the areas (Blue-Green Liquid), where no antislip-coating should be?
Regards,
Marcel

Marcel,
It's Mr. Hobby Neo Sol Masking fluid. I applied it with a paint brush cleaning it using acetone and a pretty harsh brush cleaner. Let it set overnight before you begin spraying.

Insert a wooden dowel into the tires, put them into the oven on 300 degrees, let them warm up, then remove them and press them on a flat surface. Use the dowel as a handle. Or buy the Pro Art set.
The mine protection kit is looking great.

I'll try that with some other rubber tires from my AFV Club Nancy gun truck. Hopefully this turns out well

Some small updates:
Cracked open the Voyager Model Jumbo Series Kit. Started with the stowage baskets which are very complex to say the least. I got one going with a few more parts to add but not sure if I want to go through the trouble of replacing the blast panels with the PE blast panels.
Nick I noticed your build had alot of PE including the blast shields and the stowage baskets so could you offer some input?
Here are some pictures. Happy New Years Everyone!!!

Anytime. Just make sure to take your time. Lot easier to add antislip rather than take it off.

Finally got some work in. It's been hard being a 21 year old and recovering from New Years haha but got to assembling the side armor.
I tried making this easy as possible on myself but with my first attempts just made it more complicated. I just tried to punch discs and then proceed with the PE details but that did not work in the least bit and looked alot worse:
But then I manned up and decided to use the PE to its full potential and its a wonder. The only downside is the set being so tedious it takes time. I was able to get most of the way through the first panel but I had to stop as my girl friend who is spending the night got tired of me ignoring her
Here is what I have so far. The left side will be finished tomorrow and hopefully the right side will be as well as I have nothing but time on my hands tomorrow evening.
See ya tomorrow

Man, that is some nice work you are doing!! I thought I was finished and ready for paint on my build until I stumbled onto this thread and saw the mine protection kit! what size rivets did you add to it. Also, I just bought the Eduard PE set for the M1128 and had a question on that photo etched part that goes on the front bottom (part of the mine protection kit)- does that piece appear on ALL Strykers with the mine protection kit, or just the M1128? I am also working on an M1130 and putting the plates on that one too.
KEep the pics coming!!

Yes that comes on all Strykers with the plate. I actually saw them on an M1126 and an M1130. But thanks for your words. Below are some pictures of the work I've been doing.

Here are some updates. I've been working but the pictures haven't been available till now.
I was able to complete both sides of the armor including the baskets. It was a breeze once I had a system going and I was able to finish in about a days time.
ONE VERY IMPORTANT LESSON: If you happen to be tired or notice your dexterity goes to hell it's time for you to put things down. Things got sloppy for me and it took a toll because the next day I spent alot of time correcting the mistakes I made.
This PE set is very nice, there are quite a few mistakes in the instructions as well as on some of the parts. With this being my first very labor intensive PE build, I think it came out relatively well and with this being the bulk of the set I am really able to forge ahead tonight and get this thing ready for paint by monday at the latest.
Also, bare with me because this is a little . 18Bravo (Robert) and I touched on something that's really interesting. First you would need to know a little bit about myself.
I am a 21 year old black male from the city. I played sports, i.e. football, basketball, track, and cycling all through out highschool. Played football for a year at the school I currently attend, (Big 10 University) and currently race a bike there. However, I am the only black young male I've ever encountered in this hobby. I owe this to my passion for my major and future profession however I just wish I could get others to feel the same
But back on topic! Here are some photos Sorry about the lighting
More work has been done earlier today with more pictures to come tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks for looking!

Jason,
I forgot to say, I have two bolt sources, MiG hex bolts which are very nice and I am getting some from my LHS on Saturday or Monday. I'll post some photos once they arrive. They will get attached near the end so I can avoid loosing them to the carpet monster

man, you have way more patience than me. All that PE would drive me crazy- looks great though!! I only ended up buying the PE for the MGS because I wanted 1) that PE piece we were discussing and 2.) the add on armor for the machine gun. I wil end up using most of it, but it wasn't planned. I will, however, do the slat armor on a future build- it looks way too cool to no build. Keep up the good work

Sean,
Looking really good so far. I look forward to your next update. I've always wanted to do a Stryker but all the PE that is required for a combat unit scared me off. I'm interested in seeing how you make on yours.
Regards,
John
