I am trying to replicate a really good periscope and vision port configuration but spraying combinations of clear paint seems a little bit too cliche. I was looking for DVD's but it doesnt really work well on my MGS. Any suggestions?

HI Miloslav,
your conversion looks great, im looking forward to ordering it next week!
Can you let us know what will be included in the set? Will it have the under hull armor that covers the rear of the underside too?
Thanks

More Stryker bits to get
Sean following your build with interest doing a AFV M1134 OOB as my second build in 1/35 for a very long time (normally build 1/144 aircraft) but have a family of AFV Strykers waiting on the side lines some with resin add on's and others with PE sets including slat.
The anti slip you added do you know if the material you used is available in the UK and how did you apply it?

Luciano,
Are you using the new Eduard set? If so point me in the direction of your build. It'll be quite nice to see that because I was considering that for my next Stryker set, but who knows where builds take me down a days.
As for anti slip I used this. I'm not sure Rustoleum is available in the UK but you would know better. Now since the results I had I swear by it. To apply it all you do is use a masking liquid, such as Mr. Hobby Neo Sol and apply it with a small paint brush and clean with acetone or nail polish remover. It is only available in spray can form which makes it so much easier to apply. However when buying similar products the cap will have the texture of the paint on it and you would look for something with a very fine grain because as you would spray it, it will show much better texture. I'll take a very up close picture when I get a chance to.

Thanks Sean, I'll be using the Eduard Big Ed sets for the M1126 and M1130CV, I also have the Blast M1132 conversion set, plus a few other bits including the Black Dog interior.
Plus these two Real Model conversions on order M1133 and M1127 The slat I intend to solder or at least the main structure. but all thats for a bit later in the year got a couple of other wheeled armour projects to finish first.
As for the Rustoleum it appears the company has a Uk office but they do not have that product over here so it looks like I'll be hunting through the DIY shops

Yeah I know! I'm excited! I might just wait for the Fire Suppression System because I don't think I have enough time to finish it all from scratch

Those belonged to Miloslav. His company Real Model will be producing them for the Strykers and LAV III LORIT.
Ask Robert (18Bravo), he hooked it up with a very amazing reference CD that has pictures of the plate.

Are you going to be doing the slat armor on this one? If you are, I'm just giving you a heads up... It's completely different than from the other Strykers. One being that the thickness of the armor on the MGS is thinner than that of it's brothers. If you do it let me know how, cause I want to do an MGS with slat. I've already done an M1132 ESV with slat and of course the M1126. Both of which were the AVF club.

If I do I am going to wait until the set comes out. I am on winter break from college so I have until friday to finish building, which I don't think will happen.
However, its fine as I have time to wait on the detail set. I think eduard will be producing one in the next few months, at least I hope

Hey everyone
This will be my last update for a while as I will be returning to school tomorrow and who knows when the next time I'll be back home and have time to build. So I guess leaving it where it is presents itself with good and bad reasons.
1. I just started to get images of afghan houses/bunkers in combat areas which will translate into the production of the diorama.
2. I understand Eduard will be producing slat for the MGS, FINALLY!!!
3. Miloslav and his company Real Model will be releasing a Fire Suppression System, Driver Enhancement Kit and a very detailed mine protection kit. I think I will be replacing whatever scratch built work with his parts as they will bring a higher level of detail and accuracy I am not capable of at this moment, however what I did earlier was a very good exercise in scratch building.
4. Bad because I was really close to finishing and I really wanted to, but all good things come in time.
So here are the final updates, but before I move on to that I had a bet with my sister. I had to make significant progress on my MGS. So what was on the line? I would buy her a 200 dollar pair of shoes if I lost and if I won she would buy me a new airbrush. As we all know, a picture says 1000 words.
I began work last night with the antennas at the rear of the vehicle. I was dreading this area because it looked very complex but in actuality it wasn't that difficult, however I am still having some minor issues with complex PE bends. Overall, sanding down original kit details and adding the voyager PE it provided a much higher level of detail.
I also picked up a set of weighted wheels for the Stryker from Real Model and I am throughly impressed with these wheels. However, I wish they were cast with the tire logos in different positions but I would imagine this costs more. Still, these wheels are very nice, and although these are my first resin AM wheels I think I will be using AM wheels every time if necessary.
Also, I cracked into the eduard set and started using components that were easier to assemble and made up for where the Voyager set lacked. This will be used primarily on the gun and turret.
So I just attached the upper and lower hull together but everything else is dry fitted. I placed a little dab of glue on each wheel to temporarily affix them and we can start to a vehicle! Also there is some progress on the .50 cal in the Voyager set which is very nice so far.
Sorry for the lighting. I thought it was much better with my new Daylight lamp but I need one more. No wonder my girl friend calls my room the batcave.
Then I started to pose it on what would be the base for the diorama and two of the infantry soldiers. All the things you see on here besides the vehicle and figures will be removed. This was from my last diorama attempt which I will come back to.
So thats all for now! Hopefully I will get back to the build soon, but for now thanks for watching!
Until the next time
