Krzysztof, very nice M4's and I think the bycicle is a great touch for the Russian version you have here. Anticipating your next build.

Aww nuts! Now I don't want to participate. Krzysztof's stuff is so much better than mine could possibly be.

Seriously, VERY nice work. I will struggle to be worthy

Thanks for the inspiration!

Sounds great Dani ! Make sure you post your progress and any reference pics you have for the team here

79 starters so far - we need many more

Hopefully we get more than 100 in the next couple of months !!

The "Big Cat Campaign" had about 140 from memory - we can beat that I hope (by the end)

Cheers

Paul, I'm impressed we're up to ten full pages of posts before the campaign has even started! At this rate there will be at least a hundred pages by the time we're done...

Hi Madmax... Great idea doing Battlin B ...Just make sure you use the picture and not the cover of the Squadron in Action ...There are quite a few mistakes in that drawing ..

Hey Tom !

There's a lot of fun to be had VERY soon

Shermies ..... is there anything better ?

Only a couple of weeks to go ....

If you're reading this and you're 'shy' or a 'lurker', enrol now, build a Shermie, learn a bit, get some tips, and make a lot of friends !!

Cheers

My oh my... My first campaign in a loooong time! Good to be back!

I'll join with DML's M4A3 105mm Howitzer... and I think while I'm at it I'll use my Legend sandbags kit for M4A3. Should be good!

10 pages already and it's not even July 1st... I think we'll need another campaign thread just for the construction stage of our kits!

Emre,

Good to see you made it back from 1:1 scale "armorama" in one piece! (Last I heard you were off to do your bit...)

I'm now up to a half-dozen Sherman projects I'd like to do in the year. Paul, are you gonna publish stats at the end to say how many the group builds this time compared to previous Sherman campaigns? Perhaps a "production totals by month" chart like you'd find in an Osprey book?...

Since I'm doing a Soviet Sherman, I'll be scrutinizing Krzysztof's photos.

I've not studied much about armor in the Pacific... what were the wood planks for? part of the floatation for beach landings? I saw them on a snorkel tank kit too.

Looking forwart to your Build Scotty !

The planks on the Shermies in the Pacific are in the same mold as Zimmerit as far as I know. It stops magnetic mines sticking to the hull, and it also acts as a barrier for other AT weapons...

Ah - thanks. I'll have to spend more time educating myself on the Pacific land equipment of WWII.
I seem to have neglected that, sticking to ships and planes.

Hi Guys,
I would have to agree, Krzysztof Sherman's look assume. This will be my 1st Sherman build, don't even recall building 1 as a kid. I will be building Tamiyas 1/35 M4A3 75mm
Photobucket
It comes with markings for the 6th Armored Division, winter 1944, and has box art an decals depicting a Sherman called Caballero, numbers 3081563. Does anyone have a photo of the actual Sherman in action?
Should still be home from work when this one starts so its 7 to 8 hrs a day building

Hello,
may I join the campaign with a 1:72 Sherman? If yes, I would take one from Dragon.

Hey Sal
The only couple of photos I know of this particular tank is of it being repaired after being knocked out during the fighting in the Ardennes, mid January 1945. It received a couple of shell penetrations to both sides of the hull. A talented Sherman modeller has replicated the tank as it looks in these photos here

Hi all, have just enlisted.I've only ever built one Sherman,ESCI kit i think, when i was about 12,was pretty shabby as i recall!
Looking forward to building a couple for the campaign.
At this point i'll be building a Revell (Matchbox reissue) 1:76 Firefly and a Dragon 1:72 Sherman Mk.III.

Just picked up the Dragon kit today, will be my first Dragon build.I grew up building mainly matchbox and airfix etc. so was very impressed with the detail upon opening the box tonight!
Cheers,
Tim

Thanks Brad, You are correct that modeler is talented. I was going to put mine on a Mini-Art base not knocked out. It also came with a "50" marking for the 68th Armored Division, anybody have a photo of that Sherman.
Can't believe we still have to wait another week
