great sense of drama! I just regret there is so much empty space between the Trex and the water, a very enjoyable scene nonetheless

Another dio that doesn't make much sense to me. Why is T-Rex in a bombed out German town? Why is the jeep turned over way out in front of where the T-Rex is and not behind him or at where he is?

The overall construction and painting looks good, but some of the details are lacking. You have weapons slung across soldiers' backs, but no slings on the weapon holding them there. There are quite a few seams on the tires of the CCKW and some of the figures as well. Lastly, the ammo belt hanging off the right side of the .50 cal is wrong. The ammo belt is held in the tombstone can on the gun's left. There should be only a thin strip of fabric coming out the right side of the gun after the rounds have been fired.

Even though I am not a fan of Godzilla-like dios, the overall construction and painting looks good.

Great job and nice work but I would have to agree with Gino, Why is T-Rex in a bombed out German town? I think I would replace the over grown reptile with something like a King Tiger

What a great eye-catching idea! Reminds me of Godzilla movies on a rainy Saturday afternoon when I was a kid...

Gino's comments on details could still be incorporated (slings etc) but the .50cal MG was fed with "disintegrating" belts made of cast-metal clips between bullets, so no cloth strip comes out. Instead, the truck bed should be littered with empty brass shells and little metal loop-shaped clips that would be eye-wateringly small in 1:35 scale. (I think there are AM detail sets for the brass and the links?...)

The only detail that actually bothered me was the dead German next to the T-Rex - he doesn't seem to lie down very well, and his blood looks black! Besides, why wasn't he eaten? Takes a lotta fuel to run a dinosaur...

Keep up the good work!

It depends. Early in WWII, the cloth belt was still used.

There are AM sets for the dissintegrating links and shells as well by Mission Models. They can also be easily made from thin plastic rod.

Come on you can't be serious Gino, do you think this dio has any pretention at making any sense?
or maybe, i will just find an explanation for you.
You know how Hitler and the nazi regim was interested in the occult and how the dictator was sure he would win the war thanks to the "secret weapon",
well in the closing days of april 1945, the scientists put a final hand to a TIME MACHINE and straight from Jurassic came Trexes to annihilate the American forces!
of course G-Men came afterwards and cleaned up all that mess, but since they opened the archives NOW WE KNOW!!
Don't laugh they are plenty of Alpen festung sort of dioramas around..

Aside from the said small flaws, this is still cool. I tink t-rex is gonna get the short end of a whitled down to nothing stick. Reminds me of the friday night shows I watched as a kid on creatcher featcher. Out of the ordinary and a nice change of pace.

Very funny indeed.

I love it... just for fun.. and sometimes fun is enough... but if I could give one point of advice... when painting your figures, the eyes to be more specific... just say no to white! (Keep white on the shelf... it's a little trick... and trust me, you will notice a differance!)

Gino,

I learn something new every day! I knew the .30 was originally fed with cloth belts, but never heard of it on a .50. You have any references you could point me at? It'd make an interesting talking-point in my club if I modelled one, but I'd need to be able to quote sources to defend myself from the "I know better" types...

Regards,

Tom

...wow
Seriously who gives a s**t if there are inaccuracies with equipment and weaponry...there is a bloody T-Rex rompin down the road, historical and technical accuracy is safely out the window guys..

This dio is cool, and i think that's all it is intended to be, funny, cool, and a twist on what we constantly see.

More of this please, and i don't mean the dinosaur, but the IMAGINATION, instead of the same old bland dio's we have seen 1000 times over.

Oh and the jeep could be rolled because the driver was so terrified of the T-Rex that he lost control? Or perhaps he was wondering why the soldiers didnt have slings and the ammo belt was wrong, and as his mind wandered with thoughts of such atrocities, BAM!

Awesome dio dude, keep it up!

Shouldn't the T-Rex be in the late war ambush scheme? Also any white rings around the tail?

Reminds me of a larger scale version of teh giant insect attack model/dioramas from a while ago.

I did a Pterodyctal up in Japanese Army markings and left it in a Physics lab with a friend, about a year ago I saw a picture of the inside of the lab in the paper and there in al it's stupid glory was my Type 4 Attack Lizzard - nearly 25 years later!

Scrolling down the pictures one-by-one and wham! Nice Dino-Surprise.

As for the jeep, maybe the US and Germans were in the midst of a firefight and the exploding jeep woke-up the giant

I'm sure your kid is enjoying this one too.

I agree, why bother to nitpick on details when this was obviously done for fun? Especially for a beginner diorama, I think this is a great job. The only thing that stuck out to me is what was already mentioned about the dead German soldier.

Otherwise, I think you've done a great job.

Hahaha, i scrolled slowly down, saw the milk cans on Pict. 2 and thought to make a comment about the bad looking thicknes of those cans.
Then i saw the rest... had a good laugh and that's it.
No need to luck further.

Nice idea !

And now? King Kong against the German's?

Cheers
