Thanks Andy. Yep pics would be awesome. I don't have any ref books on Soviet tanks yet, mainly pics downloaded from the internet, and lost most of those to a nasty PC virus last year.

I'll try to make any changes necessary and hopefully it'll turn out right.
I'll email you soon, thanks again.

Trumpeter marketed the Tiran 5 as Ti-67...which is totally wrong, no idea where that terminology came from. Bear with me Rob and i will post some excellent pics i have of Type 69..

Cheers

Hi Rob

May have a spare rear plate bulge..?.. Dont forget to add the turret ventilator and change the commanders comb, they didnt have the ones with extra protection.

Andy

It looks like the turret ventilator dome has been totally blown away based on the pics Rob posted

Thanks Andy, that clears things up, and no rush with the pics but it is very much appreciated.

Rob you are correct, no vent cover. I should have posted the front shot of this tank also. From what I dug up from the internet pics the vent cover was located between the two hatches, on the smooth plates. Am I correct !! Ok this tank does not have the vent cover or even an opening. I could be wrong and if so please tell.

Wish I had line drawings of these tanks, that would make it easier.
Ok as far as the lower plate/hull bulge, does any one no the dimensions, LxHxW in scale would be great. I would hate to scratch one that is way too small or big. Close enough is good too.
Man I thought this was going to be a quick fun project, but now Like building the real thing

Thanks again guys for all your support on this build.

Thanks Rob.

Ok guys a small update. After two days of research and coming up with a way to make the distinctive bulge on the rear plate, I finally got it done. And since I was at it I went and made two. One is for future use.

Since there is the bulge, and the motor comp is to wide open, I had to do some chopping and sanding. I first removed the rear plate that is molded with the lower hull, then I marked the bulge location and cut that part out as well.

Still some finish work to do on both plates but that's about it. Now it's starting to look like a T69.

Well what do you guys think, can I go with the new plate ?!?

Very nice project, Rob. Making wrecks is difficult, although so far you are doing a great job.

Looking forward to see more

Thanks guys glad I got it right. Work on this model is going much slower than planned, but it's getting there. next up is the removal of the fenders and start on the interior. I think I will be using much less of the CMK items than planned, we shall see.

OK so after some research I've found that the Chinese type 62 tank DID/DOES exist. its basically a scaled down T-59 with an 85 mm gun and turret similiar to the Type63 amphib. tank. Sorry for the MISSinformation........

Hi all

Wow I can't believe it has been this long since I last worked on this project. I got caught up in finishing other projects that had priorities and deadlines. Well now I am back on track again and have started back up on the T-69 (T-55) wreck. I have been working on a mantlet for it, without the canvas cover. I'll try to get some pics up soon on the progress.

Frank, I too am looking forward to the painting of this one, but it will be some time til it's ready for painting.

Cheers
Rob

Work on the T69 continues with some interior work, or should I say what's left of it.

Here is where it stands at the moment.

The sides and floor will be cast in resin once I add a few more bits and pieces.
Still the drivers area to do, and the motor compartment.

Cheers

Moving right along with this project. I am working on the motor compartment area, or what is left in there.

With everything dry fitted, it's time for the details.

A quick update for those still interested.

Some of the details have been added to the motor comp.

Still more stuff to put in there.

Rob, Looks great!
What do you use for your weld beads? Its very convincing......
Are those Panther torsion bars for the suspension or Tiger

Keep it up

Thanks Chris.
The torsion bars were taken from Tiger spares, or was it Jagdpanther, can't remember which. They looked the part so I went with them.
The welds are made from stretched sprue. I try to use a soft plastic, in this case it's from ESCI sprues. It stretches easy and also gets very soft with liquid glue.

There is still a LOT to do before it's done.

Cheers

Great work so far!
(short answer, sorry)
I tried to write some more about my own attempt of this kind of "left from a war", but got no good words for my one.

It looks good!

greetings...
