I would do all of the building and test fitting of the figures before finishing the cab. Prior experience there is not a lot of room for the figures once the cab is done. Then you would be able to determine when to actualy permently glue them in. As for the cable connector, the only thing I can think of is to try and sand or file that one a little smaller. Good luck and keep up the posts. I like the idea of the D-Toys tires but that can get pretty expensive.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the pointers with the figures. I've modelled a layer of sandbags across the floor of the cab with milliput & I'm waiting for them to dry overnight. I've also modelled the passenger seat in the down position which gives an interesting view into the cab, I think. Tomorrow I'll begin assembling all the completed parts of the cab together leaving doors, windscreen (windshield to you guys in the States), dash & steering wheel off to allow access for the figures. I'm going to have a rummage round my collection of figures to see what I can find.
I will keep you all posted in the next few days of progress.
Thanks guys.
Joe.

Just a quick question about the figures I'd like to use for this build:
I was thinking of having a couple of guys in flak jackets & helmets. Would this be the norm? Or would guys just wear jungle fatigues & cap?
Let me know your thoughts.

Hi Frenchy,
Flak jackets & helmets it is, then!
Those links are superb! Thankyou very much indeed for putting them my way. I'll definitely be investing in the DVD at the end of the month.
And thankyou also for pointing out the soft top mounting points. Seeing these holes has really helped a lot. Now I know where exactly to locate the frame I'm definitely going to build one now!
I really appreciate all your help, my friend. Thanks again.

well they're supposed to have flak jackets on when out on the road, but often as soon as they were outta sight they'd be setting on them.

Hi Erik,
Good to hear from you again. Thanks for your kind words. I'm trying to keep this model as simple as possible but I think that if I dont try new stuff then how will I learn?
As I've said, this model is 'cutting my teeth' & is where I learn the wonderful art of model making & painting. Anywway, I have enough people to ask for handy hints & tips from the website, dont I?

Okay, I've pretty much got the cab completed. Just a few more details to add & then I can photograph my progress & upload the pics for you to see.
Just a couple of requests: I'd like to see some detailed shots of the M35A1 fuel tank (with all the wires on top of it) & the windshield interior, particularly the wiper detail. Is there some kind of wiring that runs along the top of the windshield that is for the wipers? Or, were the wipers a manual affair in the A1?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Yeah, thanks Frenchy. I'm interested in the windscreen wiper mechanism fitted inside at the top of the windows. I've managed to find a couple of photos so I'll have a crack at it later on today, hopefully.
Thanks again, friend.

Oh boy! You really are amazing, aren't you?
That is exactly the piece I am looking for! Funnily enough, I've just started to try & scratchbuild one of these. Now I have a better picture I might be able to do a better job. LOL
Wow, this PE is really tricky, isn't it? After 'wiring up' the fuel tank I decided to have a go at the windscreen where you have to replace the kit wipers & add a few extra details. Everything is so small & I have ham fists! My patience has been tested this afternoon, I can tell you!
I'm almost there, though...

No worries, Jaymes.
I just want to get the windscreen finished & fitted & then I'll take some snaps & get them uploaded.
Hopefully, some time this week, my friend!
