Alex,
The Stuart is looking good there bud, I will be building that kit next month for the Allied Armor Campaign what colors did you use

Testors MM 'British Light Stone' for the base. The dark green is Tamiya Field Grey (XF-65), and the light is Tamiya Grey Green (XF-76). I think the XF-76 is perfect for the light color in a Caunter Scheme. The others are close, but you might be able to get closer.

Hello all,

Slow progress for me so far, but things are starting to come together as you can see below. I also have all the tracks off the sprues and cleaned up ready. Pretty straight forward assembly so far as you would expect from Tamiya. You just have to watch the direction of the return rollers and make sure you build two of each and not all for one side as I nearly did. The other mistake was using the correct rear hull. Fortunately spotted before the cement had set !

I'm hoping to have more free time this week, so with luck some quicker progress, especially now the UK weather is returning to its normal wet and windy.

All the best.

Chris

Hello all,

Well with a couple of unexpected days off work I have managed to get most of the construction done. The lower hull and turret are complete. The upper hull still requires most of the detail parts. But some of these have no locating holes, so I'll try and find a few images before attaching those. With luck I can get construction finished by the end of the weekend.

As you can see from the second image, I decided to fill in the bottom of the upper hull with sheet styrene. The gap left by the kit above the tracks is not really apparent from a birds eye view but becomes very obvious when viewed closer to 'ground level'.

And after initially using the wrong rear hull plate and almost making my own unique hybrid, I finally found the part of the instructions that tells you which parts not to use. I guess reading all the instruction before starting assembly is a good idea after all

Hope things are going well for the rest of the people still finishing.

Chris

Hi Stan & co,

Just like Alan, I was thinking I'd never start my build for this campaign! The SKP Challenger sat on the shelf, and I doubt I could do it justice in time, so I considered withdrawing. Then I went to the North Surrey show last weekend and took an old Tamiya Dingo kit to keep my hands busy at our club table...

Most of it went together on the day, and I've just done a few minor modifications today. The main assemblies are ready for paint, and I'll grab a few pics to post by the weekend.

I decided early on that the base kit required so much work to bring it up to snuff that I wouldn't bother - after all the Miniart kits would be a better start if I really wanted crisp detail. So all I've done is improve the roof a bit, and add a radio from Bronco. I'm just hoping the ancient, yellowed, curled-up decals can be rescued...

Thanks Stan!
The last weekend was full...i begun the second build ,Cromwell Mark VI CS,from the same Revell kit.Because...why don't paint two kits, in the same color, instead one? .
So,just basic paint and i put the tracks:

...both vehicles:

The Mark IV will be an vehicle from 5th Royal Horse Artillery,at Villers -Bocage 1944,and the second,Mark VI,will be an vehicle in two tone camo, from Germany,1945.
Next,anti-mud shields, the camo on Mark VI,decals, some accesories and the wheatering.
Cheers,
Dani

Cool Cromwell, though I think it's nearly impossible for one of these tanks to have the prong on the front. First, I've seen scores of pics from Villers Bocage and never have seen a pic of such a tank. Second, this attack happened on June 13, long before these things were really developed (by about a month). Also, I think the cowling over the engine vents on the back would have been unlikely as well, unless as a true field modification, and would probably look more squared off.

Still, the paint, build, weathering, etc., all look terrific, and you should be proud. I'd just rethink the setting.

Thanks Hogarth and Stan!
Robert,i know he don't have the prong and the the cowling,i see the picture with my Cromwell on this page: http://www.strijdbewijs.nl/uitbraak/bocage3eng.htm .But,this time ,i leave the historical accuracy for the artistic look.My second build will be more accurate.
I built another british tank[Sherman MKIII 1/72 scale],few time ago,for another campaign{Blitzkrieg III:Italy],after a real picture:

I hope you like this...More progress with my second build[MK VI] soon...
All the best,
Dani

Im calling this one done. I'm hoping to add it to a diorama soon enough and then will add more to it, ie stowage. The drybrushing doesn't look as strong when looked at with the mk1 eye ball but I still may have over done it a bit. Anyway, enjoy...

Cheers,
Nick.

Hi all,

My Dingo is about ready for paint, so here are a few pics before it gets covered. I've added a few details to the folding roof and the rear of the crew compartment - just enough to fill the space. Thank goodness for the Bronco AFV detail set!

Hi all. Lots of great builds being done here, have been dropping in regularly for a look.
Andy: Nice landship!
Chris: Nice progress, what markings are you going to use?
Dani: Your Cromwells look great. Those Revell kits are very nice. I have several in the stash!
Tom: Coming along well. The old Tamiya kit scrubs up well with a few added extras!
Nick: Great looking carrier.

I have finally made some progress on the resin A30 Challenger.
Replaced the front light guards with brass rod. Added some copper wire grab handles on the engine deck. And made some brackets on the rear of the engine made from plastic card. Will have the turret done in the next few days.
Cheers,
Tim
