Busiest week ever doing last minute things - like write the reference booklet for the judging notes...
And build the case for transport. here is the wood case made from 3mm mdf. I used a piece of lexan plastioc for the lid - so I can look down through it and see if there is any damage while tavelling.
Heres some pics.

Had you not mentioned the paper I would have missed it, that was a clever touch. Still completely overwhelmed by the details, so much to see. Bravo.

Adam,
Thank you for taking us on this build. Never again will I approach the building of a diorama in the same way. Your attenting to detail, the quality of work - just blows me away.
I hope a book comes from this - I would definitely buy a copy. - or 2..
Thanks again.
Frank

You're probably already on the road to Melbourne Adam but I just wanted to say best of luck for the Expo. Hopefully Frank Morgan will do a spread on the Dio for ModelArt.
Look forward to hearing how you went next week.
Cheers, John

Damian,
Either way they're one and the same.
Wish I could be there but alas it's not to be this year. Have fun and take heaps of photos for us.

So good news, i won first place in my category, clap for me yay!
Will have to wait to the end of the show to find out wheather i done well enough to quilify for the higher echelons of awards.
Cheers for the wellwishes
Adam.

Congrats Adam, a very well deserved win my friend ! Your dio is a true work of art and to view it first-hand was an honour.
I flattened 2 sets of batteries in my camera wandering around the show today, there was some amazing work on display in all areas. In between photo recon missions I was manning the ESSMC display and fielding questions from the passers-by. It was a great day, but apparently yesterday (Saturday) was even busier and attendance records have tumbled already.
Anyway, enjoy the rest of the show and let us know what your next project is soon, please !
Cheers, D

Congratulations Adam! If you do not win BOS, then I am very, very frightened of the skill of modellers in the land down under. Very, frightened. And I will not mention "the book" again either. . . .unless someone else does first. Cheers.

Thanks guys. I got the first for the diorama category. The other trophy I got is called "peoples choice". It's one where everyone who goes to the show gets to vote what they think is best model overall.
I was beaten to bos by a 1.6 scale motorbike and sidecar. Again.

Woohoo.
2 outa 3 ain't bad, 75% strike rate. Better than most of our cricketers. I just new you'd get Peoples Choice. So the once every five years trip paid out handsomely. Bravo, well done old chap. I've never known someone who has won big at Expo. I'm so excited for you. All that hard work and dedication.
Stuff the book, I want a movie. Small town modeller against all odds through pain, sweat and tears (not to mention a possible divorce if your wife is anything like mine) triumphs at the largest Model Show in Australia. Talk about a feel good movie. It has all the ingrediants. Tension, expectation, drama with just a touch of romance. You might have to change your name to Rocky though and start mumbling with the odd "Adrian" thrown in.
Seriously though Adam, well done and thankyou for taking us along for the ride. It has been an awesome build to follow with an impressive outcome. All I can say is that motorbike and sidecar must have been outstanding.
Oh and did anyone mention anything being inaccurate? I wouldn't think so because the whole composition was just magnificent. Plus we never got to see the Fitters fitted with the RWS. So one more pic (with the gongs) would be a fitting ending to the build log.
Congratulations and standdown, take a break, have a TimTam.

Dear Adam,
So you finally got what you deserved, two wonderful prices. The most important thing must be that the public (us) awarded you. What the motor bike concerns: it never can be with such an enormous amount of small detail as yours, but that is my opinion.
The book, yeah, the book! Well I will certainly order it soon, so you sold at least one!
Maybe, we should all address your wife to let you start a new dio. Finally, next year there must be another show where you should turn up
Thanks for all the hours you amused us and thanks for setting new standards.
Salute

Adam,
When you think about it,the peoples choice is probably the best award anyone can get.I also hope the bike was a real masterpiece, but I also think that maybe the judges were thinking"If we let Adam walk away with all the awards we're going to have some really POed modellers."
