Oh Dave, what an awesome looking Sherman this turned out to be!

I really like the Sand Shield Strip work ... the welding looks real and well, just about everything else for that matter!

I don't know how long it's been but I feel another Sherman Campaign is needed and overdue as well. I served in one and had to bail on one, so keep it in mind!!

Hi Jeff,

Thanks very much the kind words. She's coming along well. I am kind of liking the blue background for Green Coloured tanks I think it makes them look better.

Hi Dave,

I think that thing looks absolutely fantastic! Weathering is right on the money. Will look even better once all the gear is installed.

Hey John, thanks for having a look and commenting. Yeah got get that stowage on. I have started on the musette bags but still a ways to go.

Hello Dave,
Great work on this kit. The colour modulation and weathering is very well done, as is attention to detail.
Regards,
Garth

Hey Garth,

Thanks very much for having a look. the Colour Mod scheme came out not too bad. I am going to add a bit more weathering after I get all the stowage on.

Cheers,
Dave.

Dave, great work! Really like what you've done with the old Tamiya kit. Shows again what can be done with it.

Cheers!
Stefan

Stefan,

My apologies for initially missing your comments. Thanks very much for having a look. Yes it's a relatively old kit by today's standards but can be spruced up with a TLC.

All the best,

Dave.

I was able to get the musette bags on the the turret. The straps are made with paper and I used the Hudson and Allen decals for U.S. equipment for the U.S. insignia. Next up is the rear stowage. Oh and I also got the .50 cal Ammo box decal on as well and did some light dry brushing with a mixture of Humbrol 66 and 72. Any way Let me know what you think.

You've done a fine job with this kit. Only thing I'd suggest is painting the wooden handles on the Ma Deuce. Otherwise, you've nailed this one.

Hey Big-John,

You are too kind buddy. Thanks for the complement on the build. It is much appreciated. Those damm musette bags took longer than I thought to get done. Base coat, highlighting,
oil wash(to make them look a bit dirtier), future (in the area of decals), apply decals, flat coat, make the straps, paint them attach the bags to the turret.

Gary,

Thanks a bunch for having a look and commenting on my latest update. I wish I was a bit faster in getting the updates done but I messed my back up again and things have been going a bit slower than I would have liked. Been doing the massage therapy thing with the physiotherapist and have recently discovered Robaxacet which is an over the counter back pain pill we get up here in Canada which has been excellent and has really helped. Feeling better now though and well enough to attend the Hamilton Airshow which I am heading off to shortly with my wife, daughter and son. Aircraft are another one of my interests so it should be a good one. They will have a flyable Lancaster there (which you can go up in for a fee) and many others such as a spitfire, Hurricane, Corsair, P51 Mustang, B25's etc. Going take lots of pictures.

Tim,

Thanks very much for having a look at look at my build and posting your comments. I really like your site and it has been a wonderful reference for me during my Sherman builds. Thanks for creating and maintaining your site it's top notch.

As for the Ma Deuce I will correct the handles and paint them wood as its seems like the parkerized versions had the wooden grips. Good catch.

Cheers,
Dave.

Hey Phil,

Many thanks for having a look again. I think you have done a great job on your firefly. I like it a lot. Makes me want to build one myself. However I do have to finish off of a 1/48 scale Stug IIIB I started a few weeks back.

Cheers,
Dave.

Hey Dave!

Just found your build and I have to say it's one of the best Sherman's I've seen! I'm also a disciple of Steve Zaloga's style, and you have nailed the same type of realism I see in his work.

Spectacular!

Rick,

Thanks for having a look.

I didn't like the pictures I took of my latest progress so I have reset for another rounds of pics. Hopefully these will be good enough to post.

BTW if you really like shermans check out the new Sherman Forum at:

Hi Guys,

It's been a long long time since I updated my build log here.
However, I have managed to do some additional work on my M4A3 such as doing some weathering and adding stowage to the tank. The ration boxes are from J's work model, the wooden crate they sit on is from the Tamiya kit. The Jerry cans are from Tasca, The tarp was made from Crinnalin paper folded over a few times to thicken it up and applied with white glue thinned with water. Hope you like it.
