I didn't realize the mule was still in service. Boy, talk about recruiting at a young age!

Small update tonight... got the real base coat on. Used a slightly lightened Tamiya Black Green. Then came back and added a little Nato Green to the mix and hit some highlights and a little bit of "color modulation" type color. Very subtle compared to what some folks are doing.
Anyway, here's a few pictures... Colors are lighter/warmer due to my lighting on the workbench.
BTW, got lazy with last few details, so said enough is enough and am moving on to paint. The only detail I did add was 2 "empty" ammo can clamps on the turret side. The rest of the spaces will have ammo cans, so I didn't use the PE clamps there. You can barely make them out in the 3rd photo. Didn't think to take a detail shot there.

Hi Jesse,
i think you have done a great job man! i like the way you highligted. i think modulation looks cool but IMO it can be way over done. your subtle approach looks great!

That's some awesome paint work. It really shows off your skills. I may have to steal your paint recipe. This will be my next big venture, after I finish my Pz.IV.

Ahh, DEFINITELY something that the Afghans would have lost a long time ago.

Camo! Camo was free-hand, and using a small piece of poster board to help get a little bit tighter edges and avoid over-spray. Worked out alright. Went back and touched up some areas with the base color afterward, so had to redo some of the highlights. We'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking...
At the end, I mixed up a filter of a couple drops of yellow-green, water, rubbing alcohol, and Future. Sprayed that all together and it should give me a decent surface to lay down the Bison decals. Once that's done and has another coat of future on it, it'll be time to make her dirty.
Also ended up ordering a pair of CMK Afghan figures. This set: http://www.martola.com.pl/vdata/_obrazki/cmk/mar%5B44124%5D_f35073.jpg
The fella with the Stinger will probably end up in the spares pile, but the standing guy will likely end up in the final presentation. I "really" wanted to find the Warriors Afghan T-55 crew, but those figures are out of production, and I wasn't able to find a set for any sort of reasonable money.

I had seen those, but I was just a little concerned about the quality as I've never seen them built up beyond that photo. That said, I do know a shop that has the Afghan Head set in stock, so I could at least replace the heads of the ICM figures if they weren't so great...

Well, haven't had any time to work on this for the last week or so with Christmas, family in town, etc. Only thing I was able to do was get the decals on.... all 3 of them.
Finally got back to the bench tonight, and did some assembly of the tracks.
Here's a quick picture I snapped. Now I'm going to bed.

I ended up ordering the ICM set. Have to say I'm disappointed. Soft detail, lots of flash, and a couple of big sinkholes on the legs/hips. Hopefully I can fix them to be presentable.

You must have got a bad batch. The set I bought was excellent, except for the helmets being three pieces.

This isn't the Soviet Soldiers. It's the Afghan set that Mauro linked above.

Still haven't had a lot of time at the bench... but finally made some progress. Got the other set of tracks together, and got a coat of paint on them. Also did some of the detail painting. Tires, tow cable, MG and mount, etc. Also got the second coat of Future on it. A few more detail painting items, and then it's off to weathering.
Thanks for looking!
