oh i am just thinking of what could be the shortest or longest campaign in Amrorama history
The amount of pics found could fill many books and hell with all the pics i have found so far would fill some of that book for sure lol .
I like your ideas for that ribbon Bob and the last time i did anything graphic with a computer involved alot of swearing and my Mossberg 930 SPX 12g shotgun , so yes i would like to see what you come up with matey
That would be sweet .

Phill,

Spending a lot of time this weekend sitting on my tail away from the work bench so I will play with some sketches. However, if anyone else cares to toss an idea in it would be great. After all, I have no real idea what the heck I am doing... As usual......

Phill,

Not sure how much of pleasure it is.... here in Washington State the highway department has a small room at their rest stops that they let nonprofit organizations use. What we do is provide free coffee and cookies to the travelers. We can't ask for payment but can accept donations... and most people are generous enough to drop in a dollar or so. So, the Lions club I am in will be doing that all weekend... and I have 3 of the 4 hours shifts.... Would rather clean my room actually.

Anyway, I have the following....

Mostly this is just to provoke ideas from you and some of the others... They are as follows...

A... A bold question mark... ignore the stuff on the sides
B... A bold SW (Strange Weird) could also be S&W... again ignore the stuff on the sides
C... A bold WEIRD.... again with the stuff only it is in the middle
D... A background. The light area can be on the ends rather than the middle. Colors can be almost anything.
E/F/G... Backgrounds. Variation on the theme. We can even blend colors rather than have a sharp line.
G... Another background featuring wheel tracks on one side and tank tracks on the other.
H... 3 question marks.
I... The ever popular What the heck!?
J... A strange vehicle silhouette. I did the Danish BARV as that is my vehicle, any other can be done as long as it is destinctive.
K... Fill in your own ideas.

As you might guess, we can combine various backgrounds and foregrounds as well as various colors.

If you want to see a couple of them done up properly let me know. Will see if I come up with other ideas on my other shifts...

Ha ha I like the What the heck! idea.
It would look cool on G background but I'm not sure you can fit so deatailed background into 50x20 pixels.

I don't know either.... Will have to give it a try...

However, we also need the larger banner. Don't know the size for that though.

I think it's 468x60 and JPG format is good.

I like option I also. Is "WTH?" common enough that we wouldn't have to use the implied expletive in "WTF?"-- not to be overly sensitive of course.

Also, yes the banner would have much more detail than the ribbon. It's very hard to get any detail at all in the tiny ribbon.
That's it for my opinion. I'll go with whatever the crowd wants.

Hi all,

Hey, I am just tossing stuff out there... I will gladly accept any ideas you might have. After all, my design sense isn't to everyone's taste... comes from being an ex-draftsman.

Anyway, for the main banner I came up with the following...

I chose the Vespa because I don't care what military you want to name.... putting a paratrooper on a Vespa, sitting on the breach of a recoilless rifle that is bolted onto said Vespa is both Strange and Weird!!! Yes, I can understand the reasoning behind it.... but still....

Yes, we can put background G behind it if we want.... I am still just tossing ideas...

I like that a lot, Bob. The experienced draftsman shows in arrangement and text.
Cheers!

Banner looks absolutely fantastic! Choice of vehicle, composition, lettering - all is great!

One thing I observed is that all banners seems to have a world "campaign" on them. And I think it might be a good idea. If someone will see the banner (for example in my signature area ) he will know that it is campaign and he should click banner, read in awe and instantly enlist himself to such a wonderful campaing.

Sounds good... nice thing about computer graphics, very quick and easy to fix....

Now if we get Phill's approval for the change that is good to go and we can work on the ribbon...

Phill and all....

Well, I got the banner down to under their size limitations and while it isn't quite as sharp as I would like it is still ok, as you can see below.

The direct link to the graphic is....

In case you wish to use one for whatever. I don't know if we need to upload it onto the Armorama site somewhere or not.

Ok, I played around with the ribbon that seemed to have the most interest.... the What the heck!/H one. I can accept that the final word normally used might put some people off, especially if we attracted a female modeler. Also the WTH probably isn't all that common, I know I had never heard it before. So, I tried to distill it down to the essence and work with that. The background colors/pattern are just there and can be changed if desired....

I found that GIMP is very effective at jpg compression. I've only opened your banner, decreased quality a little and saved. And this is how it looks at 27kB size:

Direct link (feel free to use): http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/9522/banner02gimped.jpg

I think if you PM Gary about the banner he will put it on campaign page.

Also if you paste this: http://armorama.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Campaigns&file=index&req=showcontent&id=585
into "Your Link" field on your profile edition page, the banner in your signature will link to campaing page.

I like the ribbon. Without the F it is not as funny as before but I agree that we don't need to use expletive.

Thanks Bob! Very good work on the representative side of campaign!

No need for my super powers to put the banner on the campaign page. The campaign leader can add that himself.

Gary....

Thank you for the information.... have never had super powers or been an exalted personage as a campaign leader so I didn't know. Now I do...

Thanks again, Bob

Hey guys .. that banner is exactly what this campaign needs and the ribbon pretty much describes this campaign perfectly .
My biggest problem is i dont have the slightest idea how you put the banner on my own posts ,,it's on the campaign page .. that was easy .
My vote is that this ribbon is the one and even the colours work very nicely indeed , really nice work Bob mate .

Phill

Ok ignore what i said about posting the banner cause tomorrow i won't remember how to do it again and i'm not gonna do it again ..so i'm happy

Phill....

Glad you like them. Can you put the ribbon up on the campaign page also? The link is...

http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/7822/whatthel.jpg

You do know that the main problem with doing these banners and ribbons is that then you have to actually successfully complete the campaign as it looks pretty silly if you can't earn the ribbon you designed. I did manage to finish the ME109 campaign which was the first ribbon I ever designed.... and this is my second.

Your banner went up without a hitch but for some reason this one is being a git .
Gary's help here might be needed with his super powers
