Hi Nico,
Many thanks for the feedback. Just started another figure conversion, again an old Tamiya German figure I had.

This is the next one under construction, the Resicast Mechanic, with a new head and long puttees.
I used ITA cap badges for the caps.

Hi folks,
Here's how the players stand at the moment:
This chap was the 3/4 length figure I added some legs to but never finished off for the Over the Top Campaign. I have a feeling a soft cap would be more suitable.
There are some details missing, most notably the piping on the arms of the Officers Tunic, not sure how I might do that. The ORs tunics also seem to have had brass badges on the collars and/or shoulders, something I'll have to think about. Also many of the troops are seen carry ing a small cloth/canvas bag, which I assume contained the early respirator? I'll have to give some thoguht to that as to how I might produce similar bags for them.
Netx I'm going to try and convert two walking soldiers with SMLE rifles from the Tamiya British Infantry. This should be a laugh as I'll have to construct most of the tunic!
Cheers

Nobody can ever accuse you of doing things in half measures Alan . Some very cool poses on these figures. The blues, khakis and greens should contast nicely with your sand-bagged trenches. Can´t wait to see them in place.
A friend has gotten me more interested in figures, and Ive bought four of the Tommy War figures ... have you seen these yet? Amazing quality and should be a pleasure to paint. WW1 is an era Ive not ever looked into much, but seeing work like this is geting me more and more interested.

Hi Frank,
Many thanks. Yes, I've seen the Tommmy's War figures. They look excellent. At 1/32 scale they will be very good for figure painters. They are very much stand along subjects, which is why I didn't go that route and by staying in 1/35 scale I can utalise more of what I've already got.
I can see a strong case for varing subjects in scale to suit need, For example Dan Taylors Landing Craft and accessories in 1/72 scale are a much more relistic option if you want a couple of LC or LCIs but when I got back into modelling I had already decided to stick to one scale so that's what I decided to do here.
I'd like to see a lot more options for WW1 in 1/35 scale, there is certainly wide scope for both kit and dio building yet to be filled.
Enjoy the builds and post up a few pics of progress. If I ever get to stand along figures then Tommy's War will be high on the list.
Cheers

A little bit of work on the base.
I think I need to extend the cave area more towards the corner and across the trench in order to stop it looking like an earth blockhouse

Hi Garth,
Thanks, just trying to get some natural shape into it. The ground work will take a while, but I have a couple more figure conversions planned so no hurry as the campaign runs until the 11th Nov 2012.
Cheers

Hi David,
Thanks. Started work on another Tommy today, a walking infantryman who will be carrying his rifle over the shoulder. Trying some of the Tamiya British Infantry for these guys.

Hi folks,
This is the first of two or three walking troops I'd like to try. Bodies from the old Tamiya British Infantry set.
