Good deal!
I don't know about you guys, but I never knew about the MAZ-537 Tractor seen here at
http://www.militarymodelling.com/news/article/maz-537-tractor-unit/5115/ and these photos are amazing.
I cannot pull it off right now but I have always wanted a Tank Transporter for my 1/16 tanks and I think once all my other projects are completed I will look into scratch building one out of a Tamiya 1/14 RC kit. The stance and the size of those tires kill me and I think this will also be my choice for this Campaign.
I might have to scratch build a trailer because I want the tires all to match.
Sound sick or what?

Are trailers on their own acceptable?
I have the Light Recovery Trailer to build and the time frame for the build looks good.
Also are Landing Craft and LVTs acceptable:

Jeff,
That doesn't sound sick at all.
Alan,
I am afraid the trailer and LTVs are too small, a landing craft would be fine as long as it's big enough for a Tank.
Cheers Rob.

Any word on this Rob?
Also, was it decided it must be a truck and trailer combination or could it just be the truck/tractor alone?

The campaign has been submitted, and by the wording looks like anything 12t and above (halftrack, etc) is acceptable. But you gotta do the truck and trailer... otherwise, it's just a truck campaign... and Auto Modeler is -----> that way

Jeff,
The tractor alone is fine a trailer however is encouraged.
Damon,
The campaign runs till the end of next year, if you can't start in Oct. than there is still plenty of time.
Oh, and I have not heard anything yet.
Cheers Rob.

Hi Rob,
I have a Revell 1/72 FAMO... it is an 18t prime mover, will it qualify for this campaign? Frankly not sure if I have the time to commit, but as this runs for a whole year, I *should* be able to get something done
Cheers

Just enlist and since this campaign runs for like a year, I'm going try a bit of scratch building. I have trumpeter's kzkt-537 that I plan to backdate to a maz-535 prime mover with chmzap-8336 trailer. Still trying to dig up some photos of the trailer, but already have tones of spare wheels I could use for the build. Nothing more I could always order accurate armour's rogers m9 45ton trailer since the russian copied it and produced their own during the 50's and 60's.

Well I was finally able to find pictures and plans for the trailer I want to buil, so now I'm set to build the build once the campaign starts.

Wow, I have that tractor (has a skud on it right now) and I wonder if they
sell a trailer as a separate kit?
I kinda like Chris's idea.

Christopher,
I like your choice!
Cheers Rob.
P.S. Remember everyone this campaign runs for 15 months so there is plenty of time for you to do elaborate builds or to start late.

Chris, I appreciate your optimism but I have a feeling there will be a call for extensions.
Cheers

Will there be a PU Truck in front of that Chris?

Thansk guys, glad you all like the idea so far. Scratch building the trailer should not be the that bad, just need to make sure I have the right number of wheels on hand.
Jeff there are different classes for the trailers one non 5th wheels goes up to 50ton and could easly tow a T-90 with no problems. So guess if you had a big enough redneck truck to pull the thing, it would work
I don't think the russian military still use these types of trailers since the maz-537 already has the gooseneck for it. Mostly used during the 50-70's and seem to be favored by the civilian sector for their small size.

Oh, a T-90. I was thinking of a real tank like the A39 Tortoise or the T-28?
But then I guess I couldn't use the Maz. I think I'll open my kit again and see if it is a pain to modify. I really don't need 2 trucks and finding the space for them too.

Just enlisted into my first campaign! Good job it's running for a while, hopefully I'll get time to complete it as recently moved house and decorating takes priority as far as the wife's concerned! All being well, I'll start it in the spring. I'll attempt a vintage 1/76 Matchbox Diamond T with a Matador Models soft top cab conversion.
