Damn, that is one nice KV-1S. I hate meeting those on the battlefield when they use the biggest gun. Rips away so much HP blown away.

@TheSpearMan: The Pz II Ausf J is just adorable. I think someone just finished one as their entry to the Panzers Return!-campaign.

Hi Leftydan, I added you on WOT.

Andras, I don't think I've got time to get anything together for this campaign but I wonder if tanks that WERE in the game would have been acceptable, for example the Russian T-28 with 85mm gun? Now the most damaging gun you can mount is a 57mm but dang I miss that 85.

I don't see why not... I missed the 85mm on the T-28, but it's still one of my all time favorite tanks. It has a permanent place in my garage.

I just ordered a 1/72 KV-5... I hope it'll arrive in time. If not, then the second campaign

Time to contribute around here.

So I'll start with my wonderful little freak tank, the Panzer 2 Ausf J from Hobbyboss.

THERE IS A PNZII J MODEL??? Hobby Boss rules... first they come out with Hungarian armor, and now this. I gotta have this kit. I don't know how you find the pnzIIJ, but it's not a very good tank. I find it it's better just to stay at base and kill anyone who breaks through; otherwise you fall prey to the TDs easily.

(Let's hope for a BT-SV kit... fingers crossed.)

Bronco have one on the way too, but the Hobbyboss one was available first. I'll probably get the Bronco one too down the line.

Personally, I love my 2J. With a 68%+ win rate in it it's easy to do so. One of my clan mates managed a 15 kill game in one a few months back.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but as soon as I push forward, I get massacred by TDs -which can autopen you without a problem.
How do you play it? (So far the most successful strateg was to stay back and kill anyone who breaks through.)

Very nice work on that. I'm liking the effects so far. and that KV-1S. Excellent Paint job.

Funny, I didn't mind the 1S, or the IS. I hated the KV-3 though. I'm done with both and need to decide which to do. However I'm more a medium or TD guy. Funnily enough my gf had the 1S, hated it, and sold it. Citing its paper armor vs. the KV-1....oh well.

Trying to work up the gumption to do a conversion of a T-28 to a SU-8. I'm lazy however. I'm going to keep researching.

They make a KV-5 Model? even though its 1/72nd I'm still jealous. I just got mine today.

I'm surprised no one has made a IS-3 with the BL-9. That might have to be a future project....

With a month left, I am making some progress, just waiting for the barrel to arrive from Lucky Models. Then I can prime, paint and weather.

My Panzer 2 Ausf J was a bit delayed. After putting on the first base coat I made an unpleasant discovery. Using the string from Hobbyboss for the tow lines caused something strange to happen. It seems that all the thin almost invisible, protruding fibre strands soaked up the paint, causing them to thicken. The final result was that it looks like my fearsome lump of German steel carries a feather boa around. I've had to remove and replace it with some better string from Tamiya.

The ribbon looks nice, by the way. Perhaps a little simpler design along the same line would even be better?

Great builds so far everyone . I haven't posted any updates to mine in eons, so here goes:

An old pre start-of-weathering pic:

There's still a fair way to go, but its steadily coming along. Next up will be making to burnt out patches on the rear deck and back of turret, then the real weathering.

If you mean a photo of the ersatz feather boa, it was dumped.

The 2J itself has made it this far:

Ostmodels... An Australian little company, and they make a lot of interesting stuff. I'll be writing a short review soon on both tanks I got.

Well the KV-1S/KV-122 is starting to wind down, I started my filters and wash yesterday. Quick question, are we going for reproductions of the way the tanks look in the game (for weathering?) or what?

I believe you're free to chose to apply weathering or not. I did not weather my Super Pershing as the model in the garage does not have any significant weathering.
