Very nice paint job and weathering Mark

You should fix the left second road wheel which does not sit on the track though.

Alex Clark - are you the same Alex Clark that produces the incredible 72 scale uber works - that basically look absolutely incredible - and even more so are painted and weathered in a way that defies belief!! is so I love your stuff man !!

Ha, thanks Mark! I'm building a Syrian early T-72 so have been experimenting a bit with colours. Your's has exactly the shades I'm looking for and the way you're weathering it is just the way I'm hoping mine will turn out. Great work!!

Alex - Im really looking forward to seeing the T-72

On another note --- just saw on a diffetrent forum someone has copied this exact idea of mine - A syrian free army BMP-1 with arab graffiti even copied the fender damage I posted on here and another forum.

Well as long as he feels good about that - just sayin !

Mark, I do not think that guy you are referring to (Missing Lynx contributor) has copied your topic and build hence the nice bunch of pictures are freely available on the net.
I am new here but has been eagerly watching your build since the beginning.
I am sad to to say you made a couple of mistakes. Unfortunately NBC and drainage pump outlet armoured covers seem to be reversed - these covers should be open to the rear of hull.
The kit itself has some details omitted, for example crowbar and entrenching tool are missing on the hull roof as are other details and even main/central tank filler is missing.
But the paintwork and weathering are undoubtly amazing.

I wouldn't think on this too much- in the past I've actually entered stuff at a show and had someone else have the exact same kit in a similar camo scheme- we weren't copying each other- it was just coincidence. Thats not the first time I've been building and painting something similar to someone else- look at it this way- if you do the box art and someone else decides to do it you aren't copying each other- its just coincidence. The pictures of the BMP you are doing have been around for a while- it is likely plenty of modellers have seen it and wanted to do it- its just coincidence that two come along at the same time. The main thing is that you are happy with your own version- thats the most important thing!

Apologies for the .

How are things progressing with the build Mark?

Philippe - many thanks!

Karl - true - more likely the case - and the job that guy has done is sweet. I wanted to be first past the post with this subject and not get accused of copying his build!

-- and now im going to be very hypocritical as I say I want this subject copied -- with a new product that will make it all achievable.

Ok all the delay due to development of miracle masks which was a real collaboration of effort with Chadi Rachid - for source info and Arabic language support plus development of the text, Alex (Uschi van der Rosten) and Mal Mayfield of Miracle paint masks.

so this is what I wanted to achieve authentic and real referenced to the BMP-1 Free Syrian Army in the photos -

so the paint masks

and low low pressure

and WOW !

and you can chip it

oh a the big hurdle is crossed

but still quite a bit to finish off

best

Are these custom masks? And, who are they by? And, are they available for international purchase?

Hi Matt and Karl --
the masks were produced by Mal Mayfield
check his facebook here
http://www.facebook.com/miraclemasks?fref=ts

YES - I think this will be a marketed product via Uschi van der Rosten in the future.

http://www.facebook.com/uschi.vanderrosten?fref=ts
This was a joint concept. The difficulty was to accurately produce the Arabic Caligraphy -- the masks provide the best solution!

SO - also intend to produce some more custom masks - with some real real interesting subjects for armour modellers !

I will update you as news comes out!

Hello Guys, I live on Aeroscale, I build aircraft models so the masks that I produce are mainly for aircraft but, when I have the opportunity I love doing masks for Armour. I also produce the "Disc Camo" for AK and Uschi
