What's the thing on the driver's side, below the turret hatch? Not the fold down steps. It looks like some sort of hoist arm.
It is the first stab at an AA MG mount. As stated in other responses, it was swung out with the MG mounted and some hapless crew member would try and fend off the aircraft.
Because it was not very good it was quickly dropped>

@Burak; Nice II! I think it mostly "just right", but the balkankreuz behind that radio-antenna trough... usually, at least as seen in many period pictures, this cross was partially replicated to the outside of that trough?

Thank you, Bob. After your warning I checked it and you are right. I have absently placed it wrong. I pay attention it making a second one, probably in desert pattern.

John ;
Hi! My plea still stands!
So... Can I still submit my Pz II ausf J today and post my gallery shot(s) in completion of this campaign, or am I dead in the water on this?
Cheers!
Bob

Many Thanks, Oh, Panzers Return Campaign-Deity!
I just added what I believe to be the last little dribble of Future to those lamps - fenders go on in a couple hours, followed by the chalk dust, and then...
Off to the light-tent for a couple pics, and on to the Gallery site!

OK!
It's DONE! And 16 minutes to spare on my reprieve time!
"Better late then never" and "In the nick of time" come to mind!
Here you go:
The Panzer II ausf J, 12th Panzer Div, Russia, Oct 1942.
HobbyBoss kit with RB 2cm L/50 KwK 38 barrel and a little bit of scratch.
I'll post to Gallery later on 02 JAN.
Thanks for the extra day!
It's 2014 and on to the next kits and campaigns!

Hi
I hope everyone has a great prosperous 2014.
I would like to ask, I was a day late uploading mu pictures to the campaign gallery. But I had posted my pics on the forum earlier, will I still be eligible?

@John P.;
Hi!
OK... HOW do I get my finished Pz II J pics for the campaign gallery into that gallery?
I have uploaded 5 pics into "my photos" - but do not know how to upload or transfer them into the Panzers campaign gallery. Please give me a pointer and I'll head over and do that!
Cheers!

@Rob;
Thanks! After I removed the pics from "my photos", I could upload them direct to the campaign folder - they still use my allotted acct space (no, I wasn't running out) but now appear in the campaign location / folder, as desired. I had thought that there was some button or device to allow me to "transfer" already-posted images from "my photos" to the desired campaign folder - some version of a link, I'd suppose -, but guess not
Thanks!
Bob

@John P.;
My campaign pics are posted to the Panzers Return folder!
It was most enjoyable and there were/are quite a crowd of super cool builds to be seen and admired!
VERY fun and inspirational - and Yay! Another box down off the pile and emptied!
Hmmmm. One more down and done... 391 left to go!
We better get another Panzers campaign going SOON! At this rate, I'll need another couple hundred years to substantially reduce the stash!
And many thanks for granting me a little reprieve for to get that boxy little panzer done!
