After finding out that Skif screwed the pooch on the suspension setup, I decided to correct the issue. Nothing too hard to do and after 10 minutes with a scriber and a new blade in the knife I was left with this.

and these, they just need to be cut out and swapped sides to give the correct torsion bar setup.

Just adding some plastic strip to the inside so it will add a bit of strength to sides and a dab of filler to blend it all in. hopefully we will have a more accurate build...

More to follow soon

Very simple and now a bit more accurate...
Just need the filler to dry and a swipes with a sanding stick.

Tiny update time,

Side plates blended in and looking better, at lease the swing arms will be correct.

Some work on the rear hull, not sure what these round covers are but I reckon they might be fuel tank cap covers?
Removed the molded on buttons, rescribed the covers and added the two missing bolts from the resin Calibre 35 range.

Back later with more

I know what you mean Matt :-)

Just roughed out the external power ports, just plastic
stock, funny Skif missed these bits. some PE chain to be added
to the two caps later.

All good fun

Cheers Dave, the thing is that I took delivery on the new Trumpeter 2S3 yesterday so the urge is stong to put this one on hold... Don't worry I'm fighting it and winning at the moment

I must say that the 2S3 is a real nice bit of work, quality wise it's light years ahead of this kit and having the workable links in the box is a real bonus. I think that it's a mid version rather than a true early version.

Anyway I'm going off topic so back to the 2S1, more updates later.

Well done with that suspension fix Dan
Good skill there mate
Stick with the 2S1 and when you get around to the Trumpy 2S3 it'll be like eating candy floss as opposed to chewing thick toffee!!
Great work so far, loving your attention to detail
Keep it up

Cheers Chaps for the kind words, Roger I'm sticking with the 2S1
build to the end now.

Anyway a bit more PE action all from the very necessary Eduard set. just been detailing up the drivers area, not much of an update but an hours work involved.

more later chaps

So on with the build, suspension arms are no glued and level,

More PE work on the upper hull, these look like air filter covers. resin bolt heads added.

And more details around the drivers hatch. and rear door

Take care

A little more progress and closer to primer.
Still have a load more PE to add and some missing detail but here is the latest progress.

Another one of these left to make

Enjoy

Thanks Mike :-) They are a bit of a nightmare to put together but are so much better than the kit items, although chewing gum roughly shaped would be better than the kit parts!!!

I've not done much to the build to date just finshing off the tracks, which anyone who has done a set of Fruil tracks knows that it's not a quick job. I've detailed the gun sight and I'm prepping myself to re do the weld seams on the upper hull and turret. I'll pop some updated pictures up tomorrow.

Cheers

Right, a couple of quick photo's,

The sight housing. This needed a bit more work to make it more accurate, some plastic car and filler added.

The bulge on the turret side has had some magic sculpt added, still needs more work but looks better already.

So tonight I've started on the hull welding,
Stretched sprue and Tamiya extra thin cement used with a home made tool to add the texture of the weld bead.

Have a look and let me know what you think.

Turret is next up, just a few more welds on the hull to finish first, photo's don't really show them up too well.

Thank you chaps for the kind words,
anyway I've managed to get 95% of the welds done.

Today I'll add the missing tiedowns, more PE work and hopefully close up the upper and lower hull, at a push
we might see primer

Well we didn't see any primer yet I think I got ahead of myself that day. But here is the latest small update.

Tie downs on the turret are done, just need to add the small welds. lower and upper hulls are now joined and the gaps filled/cleaned up/ other small details have been added around the wagon.

Enjoy

Nice work Dan.

Still think you should have just built the darn thing from scratch. It"ll be a real shame once you get paint on, and all the hard correction work will vanish from sight.
