I'll be following your progress, I'm working on a very similar project at the moment. I've got Miniarm wheels, SP turret, Eduard PE, Barrel Depot gun and I'm holding out for the Trump track set.

Right chaps,

some progress at last, time for modelling has beena bit restricted lately, We have acquired a rescue dog, an18 month old Lurcher called Roman. He's really taken up most of the Mrs and my time but I've managed to get a little bit done.

On to the pictures.

Probably end up doing asmall base like my T-64 build for this one.

Hi;
Nice work Dan, I always thought this kit was one of Skiffs Better offerings. Ive built a few of there other Models, and the 2s1 is a hole lot more quality wise a better model. The only item that i replaced on my 2s1 was a metal barrel.
From a Personal Point, i couldent quite figure out why they had too have a Finnish version.
Keep It Coming !!

Cheers Mike, i looked everywhere for the metal barrel but came up zero,
I know what you mean about the kit, compared with some of the other Skif kits it's a whole lot better in terms of detail and fit.

Regards

Dan

That kit certainly appears to be better looking than I thought it would. I reckon with all those AM parts you've got it'll be a real stunner when finished. Updates are looking good mate!

Right Chaps, a long overdue update, I've been working away on the tracks and as all of you who know that the Fruil tracks take some time to put together.

Anyway some PE work on the turret, I've also used the Calibre 35 nuts and bolts, they are amazing, all nicely cast in resin just need a sharp scalpel to remove them. I've added some of the missing ones from the turret top. more to be added.

I've also changed the roadwheels to the Masterclub items, I think they are slightly better than the Accurate Armour version.

I almost shelved this build as I took delivery of the Trumpeter T-64B Mod 1975... but I think this needs to finished

Enjoy

Those Masterclub wheels really look the part and the barrel is coming along very nicely. Have you given any thought to a paint scheme yet Dan?

Thanks for all the comments so far guys,

Karl, I'm going for the 3 colour scheme, I think the 2S1 looks really good wearing that cam, suitably weathered. I've done more work to the barrel last night such as adding the missing attachment plates and bolts to the muzzle brake and added somemissing detail on the top hull. I've got a couple of days put aside this weekend for some modelling and having just changed my airbrush seals I'm itching to have a good spraying session.

Stay tuned

Hey Dan,
So you've got a rescue dog called Roman and you're rescuing a dog called Skif 2S1.
That's a great job. I'm also looking forward to seeing some paint on it.
Watching closely.

Thank you chaps, well what ever next I've managed to get a tad more done, don't get too excited just an hour or so.

Anyway Rog your comments made a chuckle... alot

To the pictures, i've tidied up the empty case ejection port and tried to make the part look a bit better, I could of done better but I feel that this is close enough for Government work!

The Muzzle brake.

Some protective metalwork, could be NBC vent or battery breather ?? Answers on a postcard To .......... ?@~~

That's all for now folks I have a nice trip from North Wales to Theale for an hours business meeting for a team that I'm not really in, still, it feeds Roman and the Rescue Kit 2S1

LOL

Have a good evening

man o man.. talk about a labor of love.

My hat is off to you sir. That's some fine work starting from a Skif kit and making it this far.

Building Skif armor is a lot like a Mach2 or A Model airplane kit.. it just might be easier, cleaner, and less frustrating to carve the finished product from frozen dog turds.

All of my Skif builds have stalled, waiting for Trumpeter to eclipse them.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Mike, I'm actually pretty chuffed with progress so far, and in fairness it's not a bad effort from Skif. I'm actually enjoying this build and with a few aftermarket goodies its should scrub up well, just in time for Trumpeter's release

It's the weekend More build time and another update for you good folks.

Anyway more detail work on the turret, just adding a few bits, not perfect but hopefully it will look better under a coat of Halfords finest primer.

Excuse the sanding dust, i'm a lazy chap tonight

Enjoy

that's 2 minutes in the corner for you LMAO!!

great stuff, must have taken a while for all that info to gather and put into scale! impressive, and the fact you take the challenge of making this oldie when a new kit is about to pop onto the scene!

great!

This may be a little late, but how did you mate the upper hull to the lower hull? I've attempted a couple of Skif kits and they all seem to be warped and not very user friendly.

Hi Matt, Not done that yet but this kit look pretty good in terms of fitting. I've lot more holes to drill on the upper hull
so its easier to glue from the inside. You guys will be the first to know If I encounter any issues.

Just a little bit of an update,
Worked on the commanders hatch which from the box is very basic,
in fact totally devoid of any detail on the inner surfaces, Eduard also forgot about this area in the PE set. So i set about with a candle and made a sprue seal, added a grab handle and used the locking handle from the back door (PE)

Added the stepladder to the rear of the turret along with a rather poor PE part that's too small, it's on so it's staying now. That will teach me to cut the kit part before checking out the PE replacement !

Hopefully more tomorrow.

Best Regards

Dan
