Keep it coming! Did you already apply putty to the flash supressor? I can see it needs work.

Good to see you here Rich, been a while mate cheers for the comments,
Matt, just a first pass with the putty, the flash suppressor is a really bad part of the kit and does require loads of attention, hopefully tomorrow i'll get it fixed

Good to see some progress mate. It's certainly turning out to be a labour of love, and am looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Cheers for the comments chaps,
I've not had much time in the workshop lately but I've managed to solder up the handrail and add more welds to the turret base, had to use magic sculpt for those as it was easier to texture up.
Matt go for it, building Skif kits is actually quite rewarding once you get into the zone :-)
Mr P, I'm looking at a 3 colour cam for this one, not quite 100% sure on which one but we are not too far from laying the paint down. I should be shooting the base coat this coming weekend, well that's the plan anyway !
Cheers
Dan

Right chaps, sorry for the delay in the build, last week
I had a bit of a mishap resulting in a damaged sciatic nerve, all very painful and it's put me out of action for a while. These next photo's are from my last build session before injury, I just forgot to update my WIP.
More bits have been added to the wagon, grab handles on the hull sides and turret, soldered and glued. some missing details on the back of the turret of which i think is a loud speaker, possibly for the gun commander to talk to the crew when outside?
Brackets for the amphib kit to rear of the hull and the rear door holding open/bump stop added.
Slow progress but I think I'll have this finished by the time the new Trumpeter kit is released
Take care
Dan

Go for it Matt, just arm yourself with some AM tracks, wheels and the Eduard PE set, gather as much ref material as possible and enjoy the ride. I've got the MTLB in the stash and its one of the better kits from Skif. Bison decals do some really nice schemes if your looking for something different than what is provided in the box, TBH the 2S1 decals provided are not the best in terms of quality so I would imagine that the MTLB decals are fit for the bin as well. Might just go a check mine out now that you have mentioned it!!
Just take your time and have fun

Thank you Dave,
I'v manged to do an hour this afternoon, working on the thrust bucket thingies, don't know the real name for these items but I know that they form part of the amphibious kit, quite challenging to put together, 9 PE parts and two plastic brackets
made from plastic stock.
I can almost smell the primer now
Cheers for looking guys

Hey Dan, do us all a favor please and take a number of shots from all six sides before you paint it showing all the upgrades you did.
This is a great inspiration. I have this kit and the aftermarket and have been back and forth on disposing of it to get the Trumpy kit. Based on what you've done, I think I'll keep it.
Thanks,
KL

Thank you chaps, done a bit more work on the 2S1,
Mainly the Eduard PE set and some other bits i had kicking about.
Dropped a link from the track which looks better now.
Added some padlocks and chains to the side bin,
Added some resin bolts to the brackets on the turret rear.
Added the spring from 5amp fuse wire to the loaders holding open catch on the inside of the hatch.
And the last of the PE work to the rear of the vehicle, all to do with the amphib kit, plus the rear hull tie downs
Enjoy the pictures more to follow soon.

It just keeps getting better. In the last three photos, it appears that the right hand bracket is not quite square.

Had a little spare time at the bench,
so time for a quick update.
Working around the drivers hatch area, added the spring to the hatch holding open device, same as the loaders really, 5 amp fuse wire again.
Also worked on the drivers armoured window and cover, made the hinge a bit more like the real deal.
Added the missing canvas wading screen attachment points on the side of the hull, next to the radiator, these at the moment need to be sanded back a little and tided up.
Not a brilliant picture but I've also moved the front towing/recovery hooks lower down, noticed that Skif had them to high up after the fact, these are now filled and look much better than the picture. White dots are the old holes filled with plastic rod.
The more I look, the more I find that needs putting right
Still enjoying the build.
Regards
Dan

Home straight now fella?
Good to see some progress after the layup, and hope to see this in the flesh at Telford.
Hope your feeling a bit more sprightly now so you can finish this and get on with some real armour. . I would suggest something that doesn't need to all intents and purposes scratch building.
Top stuff Dan, keep it up .
