Hi Guido,

It's the Resicast kit 35.1233 WW1 and/or BEF 26cwt 6 inch gun.

They do the WW2 kit too which I've already built.

Cheers

Hi Chief,

Looks great.

Al

I started on painting the howitzer last night to get an idea of how it might paint up.

Folks, I need some advice.
I'm building the 1/72 DORA rail gun from Hobby Boss.
The painting instructions call for an overall Field Grey (I use Tamiya XF-22)Here is a photo of one of the rail cars. It looks too green, too light colored vs the Panzer Grey on the Pz I.

The question is - Is Field Grey the proper color or should I go with Panzer Grey which is a much darker grey with perhaps a blueish tint verses a green color.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Tom

I'm not sure about the Dora gun but Leopold was panzergrau and later dunklegleb, which seems more likely.

After my absolutely hideous last picture, I have decided to take another pic pre-weathering. This time with the decals on.

Still not a great pic but easily better than the last one!

I attempted the camo with the blue-tac/putty method, still not sure on the outcome but it's easier than doing free-hand I think.

Any suggestions for weathering?
I've not weathered before, but am tempted to try a muddy look initially, simply because it seems to be harder to mess that up.
I did grab an AK "heavy mud" set a few months back...

Anyway - Pic!

Yeah my camera work still needs a lot of improving...

I hope you don't manage to mess up mud, Alex.

I ordered Ark Models 15cm toteing panzer II 'Bison' when it was on sale the other day. It can't be that bad, can it? Considering that I got it, with postage for less then half what I would spend on the DML kit; provided I can find it, I think I can handle any 'issues' that may show up. And how wrong can it be, clean considering there were only ever twelve?

My Ark 'Bison' just got here! It comes on four spures, plus two sheets of indy-link tracks, a tiny page of decals and three separate sheets of instructions. The moulding looks comparable to anything out today with exception of the most high-tech of kits. It does have an unusual number of sink and punch out marks, most are well hidden (except the two massive ones on the exhaust!); there isn't even that much flash. Just as well Ark managed to make a solid, one piece gun barrel, six rounds (looks like 2 HE and 4 AP) and gas cans; though they have no 'back' to them so they have to be displayed against something to hide the punch out mark contained within.

I'm looking forward to starting my 'Bison' just as long as I don't have to cut out all those indy-links! I hope that the Tamiya rubber band tracks that I have fit, though I don't think they will as the 'Bison' hull is supposed to be wider and longer to afford room to the gun crew.

Working with my kit I noticed that some of the smaller parts are pretty frail but hold a decent amount of detail. There are not one-click jerry cans and gun tube like I had thought after my first look. The 'one-piece batter's was part of the transmission housing (way out of scale I think, but will check) and the cans are three parts, a lid, handle and the can itself. It also seems to need a lot of fit and trimming, then more fitting and trimming, and probably a bit more than that. Some of the thinner flat parts have a slight bend in them that they shouldn't. The MG barrel is one of those things, the detail on the cooling jacket is wanting though.

Will try to post photos tomorrow, having issues with Photobucket; I can't find the HTML copy to duplicate it onto KitMaker, stupid mobile version changes where it's at.

Working on the gun carriage assembly today. Last night I built the gun with breech, the recoil sled assembly and then the base of the carriage. The recoil dampers that run along the sides of the carriage don't have the correct length to meet their mounting points, no big deal right? It is when the mounting points for the wheels that control the elevation and direction (left and right) get in the way, guess I'll be ordering the AFV Club SiG 33.

I could ignore all the other, smaller faults I've run into with this kit so far but that is just annoying.

Hi all,

I'm in with Trumpeter's B-4 203mm Howitzer.

I have the RB metal barrel (not pictured) as well. I hope to get some progress pics posted soon.

My sprue shots, it's a bit of a hassle on my Kindel but I got it to work.

You see what I'm working with? Pin marks! Plus the pin/ support that connects each suspension piece pokes into the interior.
