Very good progress, Pete.
I actually have some progress to report myself. I got all the tarps, rags and air ID panels done, drying now. They'll all come off for painting, then on to the base and figs. I have a few figs started, and the base is well along also.
Figs are mostly Meng, with some Academy guys thrown in on the Magach that will share the base. The idea is to show the Magach stopping for some light repair/maintenance, probably a scheduled stop, during the campaign in Southern Lebanon, details to be fleshed out as I go.
Base is a picture frame, thin plywood inserted and glued, then sealed with Krylon texture paint and covered with air-dry modeling clay. Dirt and rocks are actual dirt and rocks from southern Utah, secured with a PVA/water mix.
Pics so far:

And some of the various soft stowage items. There are also lots of hand-sized rags laying around, inside and out, and on the work table.

Thank you.
I had a few cracks in the clay this morning, had to do a little filling, and should be able to finish the base tonight.
Pics later.

Thanks, Pete, I appreciate it. I was a little bit in the dark on this one, not sure how far to go, but I'm happy with the look I'm getting. It'll get one final dusting, mostly on the running gear, when it goes on the base, and then it's done.

I agree very much with Peter, I think you got it spot on, she looks very mean and moody (moody in a good way), the markings on the front look exceptionally good, they blend in perfectly.
Awesome Sauce.

My M730 has come with a wrong sprue, I give up hope of finishing it in time, so I change my mind to build the YPR 765, here is the status of my build.

Thanks, Matt. Down to the wire here, got the tracks for the Magach that will accompany this one assembled and base-coated last night, base is good and dry, ready to start putting things on it and applying the last, unifying dust coat.
Oh, and the dang figures. I hate doing figures, but they're absolutely essential here, no getting around it.

Here's a couple shots of my "proof of concept", and thoughts welcomed.
Both vehicles have a final dusting with the same color pigment mix that will be used to finish the base, and yes, the Magach is greener, by intent. My thoughts were that it would have been through it's conversion well after the M113 was put it service, and I wanted to reflect the relative ages of the two vehicles, even though I weathered both heavily.
Still to add: figs and all the junk around the M113 like boxes, crates, another welding cylinder, etc, then the final dusting and cleanup of the base borders.

Thank you Peter. I have a couple of late nights at work, trying to get ready for a short vacation, so I don't expect to get back to this one till next week, but that'll give me plenty of time to think about it, which may or may not be a good thing....
