Hi.
Thanks for the compliments. Working on the lady all day. PE and little wires make the 2 Big cilinders complete with all the details one can produce in this scale.
And yes, this train is certainly love. Chuck's way to fill the little gaps and sinkholes with correction fluid works perfect.
Pictures will follow later.
Back to work.
Regards,
Robert Jan

Hi.
Some pictures from finished LH cilinderblock.
PE from Eduard and bits & pieces of wire, styrene and a little tubing. Inspiration for the build I get from the Twenot forum. There is a buildlog from ´Kanne Berends´ To me he´s the expert and great modeller. LOL when I told him I bought this kit and he gave me the link to his buildlog.
Did my first paintjob on the 12 wheels today and when my second air tank is ready the frame will get some primer on.
Regards,
Robert Jan

Hi.
Small update. Frame has a base coat and I started on a first session of weathering. It will be hard to get this close to the frame, so here she is, although still very naked...
Both cilinderblocks are mounted and some first parts to get her going. Tonightthe inside of the frame will get a final paintjob and then she has to wait.
Conversion for the railtruck is coming in. Next update I'll show the results.
Total lenght of this train in 1/35 scale is 67cm.
Hope you all enjoy the pictures and build so far.
I certainly do.
Regards,
Robert Jan

Hi.
Got the conversion kit from PlusModell. Bit of a struggle, strong words and blood sweat & tears. Not really what I expected after the brilliant kit from Calibre.
Some progress made and the truck is close to finish.
Crane is a pleasure to work on. Lenght is ok now. After some painting coming weekend it's time to install/mount the thing on the truck.
First 2 pics of the conversion to railtruck.
When I opened the little box, all looked great. Trying to get it all together... Bit of a nightmare.
More pics later.

Robert Jan

Thanks Jerry. I'm allways a bit down, getting such a 'bad' kit. There was a lot of work to get it this way (it's a one days work getting so far). On the other hand, it's also a big compliment to a company like PlusModell, creating this.

Nice build so far Robert. I really like the dusty/dirty black colour you achieved. What weathering mixes are you using for this?

Hi Frank. Thank you for the compliments.
Mixing AK interactive & home made pigments. Trackwash from AK. I dump loads of the pigments into the fresh paint. Let it dry and crush the powder with some old brush. It gives texture and nice colour nuances.
Main pigment colours are rust, darksteel, blue and some orange.

Robert Jan

Fantastic work Robert. You are a master of painting and weathering. I will follow this build closely. I really like the Reichsbahn subject matter. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Hi Jeff.
Thanks. I still wonder how others do their paint & weathering. I keep learning from watching and experiments. Sometimes great work comes out, total faillures as well.
My base colours come from Duplicolor. Rest of the work is brush painted.

Robert Jan

Some progress on the railtruck.
Front wheels were not that trouble. Good fit and only the usual sanding and scraping when bjuilding with resin parts.
Pictures from the Mercedes so far.
Waiting for the paint to dry it's movie time.

Hi Alan, hi Kurt.
Thanks for the compliments. After the dissappointment I had this weekend with the expected quality to get from this kit, I'm happy with the results so far.
Still a lot of work to do. But Nr. 1 for the Wheels of steel is rolling. I've got some nice plans for the layout of the dio, so check it out later this week.
Greetz,
Robert Jan

Progress.
Some nasty hurdles to take to finish this build.
Cabin did not go on that easy. But I managed to get right.
Still some little details to fix. Also have to fix the back of the truck. When ready, I can fix the crane in to position.
Some pics...
Hope you all like it.
Back to the workbench.
I figured out which number for the BR52 I could use.
She's getting 52 2148. Which means the loco was based at Bw Pomoschnaja - Kiev Ukraine. Gives me some freedom in details for scenery.
More info later.

Thanks Alan, thanks Jerry.
I'm learning every day to get a better technique and to discover how colours work.
I must admit that I sometimes don't no where it goes and how it ends. But that's the fun part for me.
Regards, and stay tuned,
Robert Jan

Hi Robert,
Great progress in the construction of models, the most like the crane on the truck, it is amazing, it is a set if you did it yourself. Very good weathering done. I'm looking forward to the finish. Good luck.
great regards
Paweł

Thank you Pawel.
It was a real treat to build the crane. Quality of the kit is very good. Since I've stopped building H0 trains, it was my first resin kit in years. Second though was a real nerve breaker, but I managed to get the wheels correct.

Robert Jan

Hi. Some progress on the build of my railtruck.
As far as the truck concerns, it's close to finish. Point is how to fix a presentation. I'm going to split BR52 from the railtruck. I want to finish something on a small base with some details. Make it modular, so afterwards the train will join.
Pictures...
Railbedding is ok. Planning to make it the way Trumpeter designed it, but with a twist. Damage was done by Partinzans/airraids.Regards,
Robert Jan

'Beauty knows no pain' Frank Zappa would have said.
Thanks for the compliments. Build is in a stage that a base is needed to make a further build on the truck.
Lots of ideas going on in my head. First is allways the best they say, so stay tuned.

I've been working on a base for the truck.
It's fun to do such a thing. Added some colour and debree to make a start.
Railtruck will be on the track beside the damaged one.
I used a heavy acrylic gel to put the debree in place.
For the bedding the parts from Trumpeter were used, after some surgery. Foam and sand from the beach to complete the base. I mixed the fine sand with gluepowder (for wallpaper), when it contacts water or in this case a gel, the glue is activated and it makes a fine undergrond.
Fixation with clear varnish and ready for painting.

Robert Jan
