It's update time!
The progress so far, used one rattle can up yesterday spaying in the homemade paint booth, dried for 12 hours/overnight, started some weathering and texture.
Tracks still need to be attended too. Here's how the kit looks today.
Texture on the aux. gen. exhaust was done by taking white glue on a brush, covering lightly, then taking baking powder and covering over the white glue. Removed excess. Semi dry brushed with "rust" color, then dry brushed on "gun metal" color.
I dry brushed the "gun metal" color on the rear deck exhaust to add the look of the engine had been fired up a few times and dirty air had been sucked in the grades. I'll have to go back over this under the turret to match.
I think it look so-so right now.
See ya in the funnies.....................

Why all the surface rust? Is it a neglected display tank? If it's in service some Top Sgt would be chewing a TCs butt.

Hey Thomas,
I guess I was going for that point where it just came out of service and has been waiting for mothball, scarp yard or another fate.
I do need to dull down the rust some, I wasn't too happy with it and I think it is a bit overwhelming.
HTH.

It is a bit much. From what I have seen using shared tanks in the National Guard (M48A5s) which sat outside untarped for years in upstate NY, sheet metal and bolts would rust. The armor plate had very little. Spots where the paint had chipped showing bare metal might have some. And those tanks while maintained mechanically were terribly neglected appearance wise.
Looks like a fun build I hope to start mine this year, but not sure how much I may try to update it. I did get the RB barrel. Keep up the good work.

American AFV paint has always been rather good. Vehicles do not generate virtually any surface rust at all unless they have not been maintained for several or even many years.
A vehicle just out of service would have a little rusting around the wear points near hatches and the frequent walking areas plus around any damage to the fenders plus the exhausts. That would be about it. Faded paint, though, would be a lot more common and more pronounced on the upper and more horizontal surfaces.
