Hi guys,

just thought I should post a few more pics. Progress is extremely slow presently, as I spend far too much time in hospital...and otherwise I feel completely exhausted!

Nevertheless, the villa and its garden have evolved a little:

Open Sesame...

As I said, it's not much, and still WIP, but in such a condition, you learn to be modest!

Hope you like the pics!

Cheers

Romain

You may be tired but don't quit fighting trooper! Befehl!
I can pray that working on this at least keeps your mind from dwelling on other things? So....keep working brother.
I like the garden so far. The green on the garden wall looks great as do the "clipped" palm fronds on the ground. I have those same flower bushes in my stash and have been looking for something to use them on. No application in rural Normandy though!! LOL
Keep going so I can copy some more of your work!

Hi Romain - good to see you're back; moreover, out of the hospital!

The wall and fence surrounding the villa (and everything else!!!) looks great. Very nice indeed -

Cheers

Keep up the good fight, Romain!

It is good to see you up and at it. I second what Jerry said. Things are looking good for this diorama. If it weren't for being able to see the workbench items around the base, one would think they were looking at pictures of the real place. I am still in awe.

Keep up the fight and the good work.
Cheers,
James

This update made my day. I love the growth on the perimeter wall.

If my attempt at recreating Fallujah looks anywhere close to half as great as this looks I'm going to be happy. Love watching your work as it progresses, and I can safely say that this is a real treat!

I'm really inspired by your work Romain. I've been researching Hue for a while now and have started a diorama but it's been put on the back burner do to not being able to find things like the gate and fencing and other Asian architectural pieces seen in your diorama. I'm by no means trying to copy your work but are those things scratchbuilt or available on the market. I can tell the amount of research you've done do to how accurate things are. Hope all is well can't wait for the next update

I've been wanting to make a Hue diorama for ages so am watching this spellbound by the attention to detail and authentic representation of Hue film footage and still shots, really captures the look of Hue '68. Awesome job Romain, an M48a3 wouldn't go amiss.

Yup! The M48a3 would fit in perfectly! Maybe it's because you see them on nearly all the HUE dios around, but I decided to leave it out.

Next week Leo will bring the last bit of vehicle and I will have to weather it! It is tracked, but rather special......I guess you know what it is, don't you!

Until then....just a little update....

Hi guys,

it is really just a "little update" as I am not yet in the "working mode".

This shows the action around the second squad advancing along the narrow path between the compounds:

as you can easily see, this is only a test and very much WIP, but it gives a hint!

Hope you like these! More next week, including "new" vehicles!!

Cheers

Yes!!! More nice work. Bad day for that "bloop" gunner? Love the guy with the c-rats carried in a sock! A nice touch and very authentic. Just the right colors on everyhting as well.
Poorly led squad though. Everybody moving and nobody covering?
I think the shotgun is a little bent?

Hi Romain -

I wish my final product looked half as good as your WIP!!! Composition of the figures is very dynamic - "looks" like they're moving. I wonder if the spacing is getting a bit symmetric/equidistant ? Maybe the guy on the far left - could he be placed a bit farther to the left (a bit farther away from the guy with his arm up)? and the guy with his arm raised, placed a bit to his right?

In any event - colors look great too. I think your weathering has resulted in enough subtle variation that it adds to the realism -
Glad to know you're back Romain -

Take care, and keep building!
Cheers

Hi Jerry,

you've spotted the bent barrel...well done! I had to see it on the photos to notice!

Cover is tricky here as the guys move almost through a "tunnel", but I've thought of including at least one guy behind the wall. We'll see!
Anyway, they should not come under direct fire as the BoF is laying enough suppressive fire on possible remaining viets.

Thanks for the valuable input m8!!!

Cheers

Romain

Thanks Nick!

You are being very generous with your kind comments!!

And you are right about the spacing! What I did not take into consideration was the amount of rubble and debris reducing the available space for figures.

But I'll think of something!

Cheers

The Rubble Police will be watching as well.

As the others have said ... your work is astounding! I'm really sort of speechless right now.

Hope you're doing well.
