Thanks Cristian, it is brush work, fine tip brush with the assistance of my magnifying lamp. Has taken 4 hours so far, just have the top of the ammo boxes and rear plate to do, my neck is pretty stiff!

@Jeff: Great "barbed wire" idea! Is that a metallic or plastic screen?

Cristian - It is plastic screen. It will be more difficult to "train" the plastic, but it is easier to cut and won't poke my fingers!

@Colin: I feel for you! But it still looks great!

@Jeff: Yes, that's for sure. Safety first!

Okay further progress on the paint job.

Needs another dose of Dullcote. But now it is ready to add some extras, to bump me over the 500

Comments and criticism welcome. Don't get any better without constructive criticism.

Looks good, Brad! Have you done the masking with putty? Really nice and sharp delimitations.

Thanks Cristian. No putty. The black and brown are brushed. Black first, and then there was some areas I wasn't happy with, so amended the shape with the brown.

Thanks for the comments, the roof will be staying removable. I hope to take some better pics once I get some lighting sorted!

Colin that camo is impressive!

Brad nice work

Brad,

Looks great, especially the camo. I have one recommendation - the tires on the road wheels should be flat in color, just like on auto tires. Again, a great build.

Finally got time to do some detail painting... Not a lot of progress but I'm in turtle mode. Slow and steady wins the race!

Hi Paul

Being an ex-arty officer I always have a soft spot for big guns. Your detail painting in the gun is simply excellent! Love the detail of straps on the [ammo?] box.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

Kobus

Kobus,
Thank you very much for the kind feedback! My goal is to not be embarrassed when someone who works with or around the subject sees them. I've only done armor modeling for a couple of years so each part is a learning experience.

Cheers!

Hi Jeff,

Yeah I agree. I grabbed the wrong pot of black so am hoping the next spray of Dullcote will flatten out the gloss. Otherwise it will be a repaint of them.

Jason - Brilliant work on the A7V. With all the hard work you have done to the interior, it would almost be criminal not to leave the lid removable to see all the work.

Okay. I have just started using the Airbrush so I am not going to push the issue. I am slowing building the confidence in designing a diorama, but for this model I am calling it done.

Crew Commander hatch movable, blast shield on drivers windscreen is movable, as is the launch module.

Hey everyone
Bit of a late entry but im going to jump in with the Meng Tortoise. Its not quite fresh but nothing has been glued, just parts clipped and sanded. Im going to add the Voyager PE set for the added parts count, but 254 parts in the boogies alone and 500+ shouldnt be to hard to hit.

Heres the starter photo

Didn't know you weren't completely finished. My error.

All good Jeff. Like I said earlier, happy for constructive criticism, as it is the only way we get better. Had another look at it this morning before coming to work, and will need to go over them again, as the Dullcote hasn't dulled them enough for my liking.

Brad: That was a fast build! The results look good so far but it is missing some weathering, at least to my taste.

Matt: Welcome aboard! You are not late, there is still plenty of time. Looking forward to see more of that turtle

Paul, your Bishop will be amazing when it is done, you have great attention to detail!

Brad, I agree with Cristian, a little bit of weathering will go a long way, even just a dusting of pigments over the undercarriage and lower body plus some light streaking.

Hey guys. Some great builds going on here. I am glad to be part of this
But now, I am in kind of a good news-bad news situation. Good news, My T-34 is almost done. Bad news is, my T-34 is almost done.
I really enjoyed that build and I hate it to come to an end. All that remains is to paint and weather tracks and suspension.
So, I am desperatly trying to come with something to postpone the inevitable.
So, I built myself an open toolbox. With some tools. If you are interested, all of that is made from parts of sprue tree... Yeah, being filthy poor is great for your imagination...

Hi Colin and Cristian. Thanks for the feedback. I can honestly say that weathering is another thing I haven't tried before. That and the airbrush, that I have finally used scared me off. I think it is more due to the cost of kits here in Australia, so didn't want to waste my money on building a great model, then destroying it by the next to final stage of paint and weathering. Most of my vehicles that have been built look like the end of the factory floor type builds. I might hit the LHS and have a wee gander at what they have in stock for weathering. I was contemplating scratching it up a bit like the reference pics I was trying to use as inspiration. For an idea of what I was using:

@Josip: Those tools look GREAT!!!
@Brad: How about trying out those new techniques on some scrap models you know you won't be finishing anymore. Even some yogurt cups might do or some half-built scrap models from ebay or the like which usually go dirt cheap.

Josip,
Very nice work. I really look forward to seeing your completed project.

Brad,
Your build looks great also, but with modeling I've found the old saying "nothing ventured, nothing gained" is true. The excitement in modeling for me comes from trying new things.

Cheers,

I did Paul, I airbrushed for the first time

After moving numerous times over the last couple of years before buying our house, I have a few WWII showroom tanks that are a little worse for wear. I will see which one I want to destroy before doing anymore to the M270
