@ Brian, I think the kit has been out of production for quite some time now. Bronco models does the same vehicle (CB35070) which is of better quality but also contains more parts and therefore much more expensive.

You could also try the Italeri kit (#277) since the Tamiya kit is essentially a rebox of it but with extra stuff. Its cheaper but has its share of issues.

Actually no this isn't the same variant as the Bronco kit. The only similarity is they both have the rocket launchers located on the roof. The Italeri kit, this being the rebox by Tamiya with extras as shown is based on the Opel Blitz chassis which in turn was converted with running gear and tracks to create a Maultier version, which plenty of photographs exist of it in action.

The bronco kit is completely different and I believe, but could stand to be corrected, isn't an actual variant that went into production as the war ended before it got to that stage. A bit of a paper panzer as they say.

The kit turned out nice Bob, glad you got to finish it.

Alan, the Bronco kit is of the Schwerer Wehrmachtschlepper, which did go into production, though not in great numbers. The rocket launcher assembly is very similar to Rob's SdKfz 4. This is the SWS:

Rob, nice model, I have a bit of a liking for these half track rocket launchers. Your construction, camo and weathering are cool. I wonder if it would benefit from some darker shade of dust / dirt on the lower parts only, like the tracks, wheels and the underside of the chassis and suspension. Thing is, it is quite strongly weathered, and in reality vehicles tend to accumulate more dirt nearer to the ground, so it should fade away. Just a suggestion, hope you don't mind.

Matthew I agree about the weathering. I steal have more to do. It is a great suggestion thanks for making it.

I am still cursing away on the Panzerwefer 42 project. I have just finished up the painting of the figurers and ammo crates and tubes. I am pretty happy with how the figures came out. The wood crates I am still out on. The grain looks a bit heavy in the picture but in person from a normal viewing distance they look good. Well I will need to start the base and finish wreathing everything once the base is completed. I am seeing a finish line in the distance finally.

It’s time for another update on the project. I am making good forward progress on the base and accessory items. Finished with the trees this week and they are not exactly what I was looking for but I am fairly happy with them. I think they look really good for steel wool. I did order some Super Sage trees form Scenic Express for my next trees. The base has also been completed and covered in plaster cloth. I also am about half way done with my tarp on the fuel drums. The next update should be the final one with the complete base and model.

The first three pictures cover the general layout for the completed base.

Rob wow! Your figures and crates and stuff look great!
I really like your base. I can't wait to see everything come together.

Oh ya, your tarp looks awesome. I'm definitely going to need to try that. Care to give some insight?

Thanks Dustin, For the tarp I use tissue paper, actual its the paper that comes with a new shirt or in a shoe box. Then I use a 50% water to 50% PVA glue mixture and slowly coat it in the mixture working the creases into the tarp. I let it dry and coat it to more times and then paint the tarp. Hop[e that makes since. Again thanks for the support Dustin.

Perfect. Thanks Rob for sharing that. I've been meaning to try that out. I have a couple of projects that could use a tarp.

The Panzerwefer 42 is now completed. I just finished the Diorama and installing all the elements today. I am very happy with the weathering on the model and figurers came out. Working under the trees caused me all kinds of problems with my big hands. All my weathering products used on this model are from Vallejo, I really enjoy working with them, but there is a learning curve with them. The book Airbrushing and Wreathing Techniques by Rob Ferreira was a great help. The other challenge is trying to make things look random, I think I did OK. I just want to say thanks to everyone that dropped in to look at this WIP.

Robert

Now on to the finished diorama.
