Hey Russ
thanks for the back up brother, as far as the grass goes I use a combination of static grass for the shorter stuff and a hemp rope for the taller grass, I use white glue to attach it and it goes like this
first I ruff up the end of the rope and hold it with a tweezer then cut it off with a scissor like this
Hey Doug,
This diorama is incredible so far. I really enjoy seeing your work at the various shows. I have never used the hemp rope for grass before, but for my next few projects, I think it might work better than what I have been using. Where in the DFW area can you get the greenish hemp rope? Or is it something you ordered somewhere?
Thanks,
James

Doug,
Very nice work. If I understand correctly you are using the tanks and scene as a platform to show off your figures.
The only thing that makes me wince is the guys with their legs and feet on the mufflers. I once got 2nd degree burns off a muffler pipe, 10 feet from the engine (over turned rv). Lived and learned! Looking forward to your progress.

good point, but I see those guys in the back of the lead tank as getting up and on and positioning still and perhaps the engine is not yet running so they are OK.

Doug, just a fantastic composition-- you are a true artist. There was a discussion a few months back on what happens to dioramas after they are finished. What do you do with your exceptional work?

Very nice ending! As I said before I really admire your blending skills with the paint jobs on the figs.
Now that I see the thing from the dead-on side view though,my suspicion is confirmed about the rider on that horse. He is way too far back on the horse. Check out some side views on line somewhere and you will see what I mean ?
Of course,it's a minor point and hardly anyone will notice as the dio is so nice.

Hey Doug, thanks for the hatch explanation. After you replied I looked at the pic's in my reference and stand corrected. The end result is just fantastic. A good dio needs no face plate explaining it, and you have a perfect story and composition. And your painting is some of the best I have ever seen. Two thumbs up,if I had another it would be 3.

Ah, didn't realize you were down in Texas. AMPS is the big national show that jumps around state to state each April. It's in Danbury CT this year. Unbelievably close to me, but quite a hike from Texas If it's every within a days drive or so from you, I highly recommend going. Great show, great models, great people, and most importantly, great vendors!

Amazing work Doug! Really enjoyed your SBS on painting faces too. From this dio I was sure you were using oils and blending all those facial tones, until I saw your SBS paints were all reaper acrylics.
