In answer to some of the posters back in this thread. The panzer uniform on the second tank commander is the later reed green dungaree version used in summertime. The picture of the late war PzIVs and crews show some guys with this one. The mixture of the later war uniform with the early war tank is kind of odd though, but the modeler has stated he isn't going for complete accuracy, just an over-all concept of combined ops blitz tactics.
The overall work and the brilliant painting should be and are the main point here,I think?
If you know me,I am ,of course,a fan of including a horse !
Very well done stuff.
If I had any suggestion it would be some of the figs feet have the "pointy toe" thing going on.Nobody sits with their toes pointing up like that so it doesn't fool the eye. A simple cut into the top front of the angle will relax the plastic and let the foot be hung down, then filled?
The painting is so awesome with the shading looking very very nice I thought it would be worth it to make my humble comment?
Plus, the officer is not an officer, but an NCO,which is cool with me,as we ran everything anyway.

Now thát's the way to paint a horse !! Superb. Great shadow/highlights. Before painting a horse one should first take a look here. That's how it ought to be done.
Best not post mine
By the way, your figures are also amazing. Would it be possible for you to write a small tutorial (with some pictures) on how you do it?

Doug,
The Cavalryman is excellent, but the size looks a little large in the photo-- maybe it's the camera angle or something-- not a chance it could be 54mm is it?

the figure and horse are from DML and are 1/35th scale, I think it is the angle of the shot and the fact that the horse and rider are in the front of the scene.

Russ,
You may be forgetting just how small the PzII was compared to maybe a Panther?

Jerry, no, I know the Panzer II is small-- I've built several of them-- I think it's the angle of the photo, as I was gauging the height of the horse's head and the tallness of the figure against the height of the figures on the tank. I've had a situation myself where some figures purported to be 1/35 were closer to 1/32.

Nice! I like how you created your own bushes and you did a great job on the horse...as well as on all the figures.

Doug,
Really nice work-- no more like incredible work. My only suggestion is to add a sling to that rifle. I know you did a tutorial for figure painting a while back-- but could you do another just on faces and arms? Your face painting techniques are really fantastic.

Doug , masterpiece quality painting !!!
I'm the last person to be the " go to " guy on uniforms , so for me the guys look like German soldiers , the horse looks like a horse , the Pz2 looks like a Pz2 , the camo on the Pz2 vs. the uniforms for the period of battle ....... dunno , soooooo ........... I can't identify any glaring continuity errors .
Don't get me wrong , I wouldn't want to see a King Tiger in Tunisia .
Your work is just to beautiful to fault minor errors .
Keep going man , I enjoy looking and learning about your skills .

I decided that a motorcycle and sidecar was needed to get the desired crowded line of men and machines so it will go up front. This is the Zvezda BMW and it is so nice, the detail and fit are exceptional.
I had the pleasure of building one of these bikes a while back — great little kit! It will be a nice addition.
Thanks for sharing the nice work!🍺

Doug, as a dio builder myself it is always the figure painting were I lack the skill you display. Absolutely flawless as far as I am seeing. Just would be happy if my figures turned out half as good as yours. Now the question, and anyone who knows better than I speak up. I did the pzII in a dio awhile back and I thought the 2 front hatch's were for transmition access, looks like the tanker is entering there. I am by no means any where close to knowing all about them so I'm not sure. No matter what, this is one of those exceptionally done dio's and your painting skills just makes so much pop right out. I will follow this one to the end.

thanks for the kind words, On the Panzer II the front hatch is for the driver, the Panzer IV has two similar hatches for the transmission.
